What's Next??

I've now seen the same video clip on 3 different TV channels, and I still have the same question running around in my head. It's the clip where Obama is in Detroit and says something about the Gov't saving jobs and the US auto industry.

If I recall, the Gov't loaned money, bought interest and there was still bankruptcy proceedings. Wouldn't the final results be the same if the Gov't would have just left it all alone? If that is true then the only difference is that now Gov't can control, directly, a large manufacturing section of the country.

Maybe that was the original goal all along, direct manufacturing control.

Financial control, manufacturing control, and health care control. Area there any steps left to take complete control of our lives?

Conflict of Interest?

As I understand, a state of the union passes a law that is extremely close to duplicating the federal law. The Fed has refused to enforce such law for decades, so the state will do it themselves.

The Fed files suit against the state, and files a preliminary injunction. The case is reviewed and the injunction ruled my a federal judge.

Aren't federal judges appointed by and report to the federal government? Isn't this a little bit of conflict of interest? What happened to equal under the law?

Bad Hip

My daughter-in-law is a sports trainer, and as such has a little schooling in the human skeleton and muscles. She says she's not an expert but after looking at my hip x-rays made the following comments.

"Bone on bone here and here.
Cartilage gone here.
The ball is not all the way into the socket.
The doctor will probably want an MRI to go with the x-ray.
I'd be really surprised if the doctor doesn't recommend hip replacement surgery."

I'll learn more come Monday morning.

That's Just Wonderful

Yesterday I picked up my hip x-rays and report that I'll be taking with me to the surgeon Monday. I looked at the x-rays and muttered 'yeah so'. I also read the report which didn't mean anything to me either. It was obviously meant for a doctor that knows doctor vocabulary.

There was one sentence that I did understand.

Impression:
There is severe degenerative joint disease involving the right hip, . . .

I did some quick internet research about arthritis and hip surgery. Seems to me that cutting, drilling and chiseling is in my future.

Stay on Track

I hear that Obama gave a speech where he urged congress to stay on track despite the coming break and election. That's a good sign that he still has more government controls and economy killing he wants enacted. It also seems to indicate that he's concerned that after January he'll no longer enjoy the majority in congress.

Let's hope that his fellows in the stupid party are too scared of losing their jobs that nothing else bad gets done.

Who's is Bigger

Remember a few weeks back when N. Korea threatened a nuclear strike if the USA and S. Korea actually had joint training manuvers in the area? Obviously this was intended as a show of strength by the USA and NK.

Ever hear of somebody saying something like 'you 2 guys should just unzip your pants and determine which is bigger'?

Heh. I think ours was determined to be bigger.

Typ Gov't Project, or Shovel Ready

Amusing or Disgusting

I can't decide if it's amusing or simply disgusting when I see a Democrat and a Republican play the blame game.

Blame the Republicans and especially Bush for the debt and the recession. The fiscal policies, war and the banking collapse are all on his shoulders.

Blame the Democrats/Obama for the huge deficit, high debt and run-away spending that has no provable benefit to the economy.

Yes, the recent forced socialism and out of control spending falls squarely on the Evil party (Democrats). They'll never understand, or admit they understand, that huge government spending has not and will not help the economy. Naturally they don't care because they are all socialists at heart, so growing government control is a good thing in their eyes. Also, they wouldn't understand fiscal responsibility if it hit them squarely in the face.

The Republicans are not innocent of this mess by any stretch of the imagination. The stupid party hasn't been conservative and fiscally responsible for a long time. In fact I believe they've become the old Democrat party, the way it was in the past. But blaming Bush for all the country ills is just wrong. A lot of the stuff now being complained about was due to Democrat controlled committees and Democrat controlled congress.

If it wasn't for the conservative movement and the TEA party demonstrations we'd have socialism and socialism light. We can also thank them for at least stalling the "fundamental change" that the socialists are determined to bring about.

The only "fundamental change" I'm interested in seeing is a return to the system as it was originally intended. Let's bring back free markets, capitalism, individual liberty and responsibility, the rule of law (for all) and especially small government. These concepts have proven to work well. Why would we get away from them?

Not Much to Say

I haven't had much to say lately, mostly because I find myself repeating what I've said in the past. Bitching about our over-reaching and inept government has become somewhat boring. Also the weather has been unbearably hot, at least for me. And I've been down lately because of no trips to the range and the constant pain in my hip.

Yeah, I know there are millions in worse condition than I am. After all, I am employed, even if it is as a temporary without any benefits. Any job these days is better than none at all.

So what's my problem? Hell, I don't know.

Vote Economics

At the polls this fall I'm going to have a tough decision. You see in the past I've been mostly a 1 issue voter. If the candidate was pro 2A he got my vote, because that represents liberty and because generally speaking he would represent my way of thinking on most other issues of importance. As far as I can remember that meant voting for a Republican over a Democrat, except for the last Ohio governor's race. That may be the first and only time I ever voted for a Democrat.

This time around is going to be different. The pro-gun governor is a Democrat with socialist policies like most Democrats. The Republican challenger has the better philosophy on governing, but he has an anti-gun background. This time around I may end up voting based on economics rather than the gun issue. Crap!!

Bone Cutter

Well I finally decided to see a bone cutter about my arthritic hip. I have an appointment in 2 weeks to see what he has to say about the situation. It was bad enough that I have to physically force my leg up, and then barely reach putting on socks or tying my shoe, but now my left knee is paying a price also.

My left knee gave me troubles for years after 1 bad twist, 2 hyper extensions and 1 knee cap injury. With all that it actually was not bothering me much the last few years, that is until the hip started giving me problems. Apparently favoring the hip has caused more issues with the opposite leg knee. How can a guy limp with both legs painful?

In any case I'm hoping that a scope job on the hip with fix things, for a while anyway. That'll probably be less expensive and faster healing. Being a contractor and not direct hire, I'm not certain being off work for a replacement that I'll still have a job when I'm able to work again. No one will admit it but most companies don't want to hire an engineer that's close to 60 years old.

Gun Show

Managed to get to the local gun & knife show today with the eldest son. I had planned on doing some touch & feel on a Puma/Rossi/Taurus lever gun. If chambered in 454 Casull so much the better. No such luck this time around. The guy that sells lever crankers wasn't there. Probably a good thing because there was a good chance he'd get some of my money for a 454.

I did spends a little money anyway. I bought a bag of Starline 357 brass, a CRKT folder and a brick of Blazer 22lr. My supply of 357 brass is decades old and dwindling due to splitting and it's about time I started replacing it. My 4 inch Cold Steel folder is illegal to carry in some areas so I bought a 3 inch folder. The Blazer 22 is cheap and dirty, but my 22 rifle seems to love the stuff, so I run it through the Browning BucMark also.

I find it interesting that with the increased sales of guns since Obama was elected that the local gun show is actually slowly shrinking in size. It might be that monthly is a little too frequent. It also might be the negative publicity that it received via the busy body from NY City.

Pink ??

Have you noticed all the new guns trying to draw the attention of the female of the species? Most of then are pink. Did any of the marketing people actually ask women if they like guns of a different color? Every time I point out a pink gun or one with pink furniture the Boss makes an ugly noise. She's not fond of pink, especially on a gun.

She likes real guns, ones that appear to mean business and not ones that look like toys.

When I brought home my first Arisaka 7.7 Jap rifle she liked the way it looked. For me that's one of the ugliest rifles I've ever seen, let alone owned.

Too Late??

Looks as if The People are not quite as stupid as I thought, they're just slow learners. They've finally caught on to the evangulistic - used car salesman approach to dealing with us lesser beings of the republic. All the poles, and even the liberal rags are now trashing Obama. They even use the term socialist. Hope it's not too late.

FOX News Babes

Have you ever noticed that the women on FOX News, even the guests, except maybe Ann Coulter, a fine eye candy? Not only are they very fine representatives of the female of the species, they're intelligent too. Seems that FOX News is an appropriate name.

Hip Pain

Yesterday I trimmed the bushes and pressure washed the vinyl fence. When the Boss wanted a fence she insisted on white, and I insisted on not painting it, so we ended up with vinyl. Unfortunately the shade has the result of green mold growing on the vinyl, so every other year I have to pressure was it. That's still better than painting, which I despise.

It's not all that hard of work to be doing, but the arthritis didn't like it one little bit. It kept me awake most of the night.

Today I dug a hole and filled it with a sleeve and concrete needed to mount a flag pole. The Boss didn't like mu "don't tread on me" flag hanging on the house, so now we have a flag pole. Our national flag will be at the top, with the yellow snake flag under it.

I'm done for the day. My arthritic hip hurts like hell, so I'm on my butt for most of the rest of the day. I'll view some TV and work on ammo supplies I guess.

No Respect

Friday evening I went from work to a funeral visitation. Our adopted grandchildren latest father, mothers fourth marriage, lost a brother due to suicide. I knew 7 of the 40+ people there.

Growing up in suburbia, I thought the Boss's relatives from the hills of eastern Kentucky were hicks, but boy was I wrong. The Brier Hoppers of Kentucky are extremely classy people by comparison to what I saw Friday evening. Most all were inner city hicks. I've never seen so many fat, ugly women with ugly skin art, wearing short skirts or jeans in one place in my life. Most of the guys were in t-shirts and frayed jeans, and some appeared to need bathing as well.

In my humble opinion, they were less than respectful, in the extreme.

I quit wearing a tie, except for job interviews, years ago. I went to the visitation dressed in business casual, and expected to be under dressed by comparison. As it was, I stood out as being almost over dressed.

By the way, my little Kahr PM9 is easier to conceal then the Kimber UltraCArry using a shirt tuckable IWB holster.

A Good Thing or a Bad Thing

My father, naturally of a different time, didn't much like computers. He constantly complained about new engineering graduates (civil engineering) not being able to do their job without a computer. His complaint was really about engineers that didn't know their trade, but relied on some unknown programming to know it for them. He believed that if you couldn't do it with a slide rule, then you really couldn't do it. That was maybe 20 years ago.

He was surprised when I told him that I used a computer all the time, to save time. He thought I was a poor engineer until I told him that most of the time I was using logic that I wrote, so I understand the theory and practice. I also am behind times in that I went through the engineering program using a slide rule. I started school with a slide rule like all the others, but unlike them I also finished with a slide rule. I must have been the only senior engineering student that didn't have one of those new pocket calculators. I couldn't afford the $400 price tag at that time when I only made $125 a week to support the Boss and our first son.

I don't know if my father had a problem with the new graduates or with the teaching. Today I sometimes wonder the same thing. Several years ago I had the opportunity to work with a fresh graduate that had something like a 3.8 grade point average. He did very well when confronted with issues like he saw in a text book, but seemed to lack basic math and concept knowledge. Maybe his problem was an inability to reason and think for himself. In any case I was extremely disappointed.

Today our whole society is so extremely reliant on computers that it's a little scary. If some rogue nation set off a few electromagnetic pulses over the US our whole country would come to a stand still. Our electricity, water supply, everything that we rely on daily would disappear in an instant. Everything is reliant on computers. If this should happen I worry that we no longer have the people that understand the basics of applied science that can pull us back. Would we be stuck bach in the 18th century for another 100 years?

I also worry that most of the population would simply not be able to survive. There seems to be a larger percentage of young people that have no idea that their food comes from some place other than the grocery store. How many of us could grow our own crops or harvest our own meat? How many of us have the tools and willpower to protect ourselves from the mobs?

These mental gymnastics started as a result of a conversation between 2 engineering c0-0p students where I now work. Their conversation centered around the possibility that personal interaction may become a thing of the past. Their premise is that e-mail, internet conferencing, and especially texting is becoming so ingrained that talking is becoming obsolete.

I sometimes wonder if technology is a good thing or a bad thing.

Spending Some Money

Most Saturdays I find myself being the driver for Mrs. Boss while running all sort of errands. This last Saturday was only slightly different in that we spent some money on new televisions. Yep, plural. More than 1. Both are 32" LCDs.

One for the basement, replacing an ancient CRT model. One room of the basement is set up like a semi-family room, consisting of computer desk, exercise machines, recliners and a TV. That's where the new LCD is now located. My Man Cave (work room / armory) still has an old CRT.

The other went in our bedroom. I moved the old 31"(?) CRT from there to a spare bedroom for the grand kids. I had forgotten how heavy the old monster TVs are.

We, especially me, had a weak moment. We have 6 televisions scattered around the house, and now 4 of them are LCD. We had 6 before, but most were quite old except for the 54" in the family room and the 13" in the kitchen.

My frugal will power has been a little lacking lately. That's why I've purposely avoided the recent gun show and the local gun shops. I really, really want one of these or these. It's been talking to me in my dreams, and I haven't even touched one yet. I'm afraid that if I touch it, I'll buy it.

How Can That Be ??

Over the last couple of decades, that I paid attention, this country has changed dramatically. On the one hand we've become increasingly big government squelching our liberty and generally making a mess of things. But on the other hand the 2A has been drinking from the spring of life.

How can our liberties be going in opposite directions at the same time?

What's up with that?

Old Looking Leather

A co-worker told me yesterday that he recently purchased a Taurus Judge for his wife to have at the house when he's away from home. In the back of my mind I was wondering if that revolver might be a little much for his spouse to handle, but I didn't say anything about that, only that it wasn't a bad choice. Apparently that's the only gun they own, at least for now.

He also mentioned the desire to purchase a brace of "old west" pistols to hang on the wall as decoration in worn looking traditional leather. We talked a little, and he favors working revolvers that use cartridge ammunition. Not a bad idea there. I was able to direct him towards some local establishments that might be able to satisfy his wants, except for the worn-looking leather gear. Anybody got ideas on that??

To Work Tomorrow

Working as a contractor I only get paid for the time I spend on the job. I have absolutely no paid time off, so unlike the other engineers at my place of employment, I don't get paid for tomorrows holiday.

The shop area in the part of the company where I work operates 24/7, 365 days a year. So tomorrow I'll be going in for part of the day, just for the money. I've had enough short pay weeks recently.

Private Range Possibility

Last night we were at the same place that we did some short range handgun shooting last week. The owner mentioned he was interested in building his very own private shooting range there. I suggested he remove some brushy plants from the sides of a dirt road and put a few truck loads of dirt at the end. Combine that with a portable table and he, sons, grandsons, and hopefully I can shoot at distances up to 150 yards. I think I'll mention the possibility to him again in a few days. It helps that he is my daughter-in-law's father, and that his late wife and the Boss became good friends.

Illegal Immigrants = Bad For The USA

Not only is the Fed not doing their job regards securing our borders, but that's costing each and every one of us our hard earned money. On my last pay statement, 23% of my income was stolen by local, state and federal governments. And the biggest percentage of that goes to those that won't do for themselves, I'd bet.

Reportedly;

* Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops, but 29% are on welfare.

* 83% of warrants for murder in Phoenix are for illegal aliens.

* 86% of warrants for murder in Albuquerque are for illegal aliens.

* 75% of those on the most wanted list in Los Angeles, Phoenix and
Albuquerque are illegal aliens.

* 24.9% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals

* 40.1% of all inmates in Arizona detention centers are Mexican nationals

* 48.2% of all inmates in New Mexico detention centers are Mexican nationals

* 29% of (630,000) convicted illegal alien felons fill Arizona and
federal prisons at a cost of $1.6 BILLION annually

* 53% of all investigated burglaries reported in California, New
Mexico, Nevada, Arizona and Texas are perpetrated by illegal aliens.

* 50% of plus of all gang members in Los Angeles are illegal aliens

* 71% plus of all apprehended cars stolen in 2005 in Texas, New
Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and California were stolen by Illegal aliens
or “transport coyotes.”

* 47% of cited/stopped drivers in California have no license, no
insurance and no registration for the vehicle. Of that 47%, 92% of are
illegal aliens.

* 63 % of cited/stopped drivers in Arizona have no license, no
insurance and no registration for the vehicle. Of that 63%, 97% of are
illegal aliens

* 66% of cited/stopped drivers in New Mexico have no license, no
insurance and no registration for the vehicle. Of that 66%, 98% of are
illegal aliens.

* 380,000 plus “anchor babies” were born in the United States to
illegal alien parents in just one year, making 380,000 babies
automatically US citizens.

* 97.2% of all costs incurred from those births were paid by the
American taxpayers

If I could retire, but I can't thanks to the Fed, I'd consider spending winters near our southern border hiking the areas of few residents. I'd have a 45 on my hip, my 7mm Mag slung on my back and the AR in my hands. Somebody needs to do some varmint hunting down there.

Happt Birthday USA

Though it's getting hard to recognise you anymore. You have my sympathy regards the cancerous progressives.

Re-Deployment

The criminals just south of the Arizona border reportedly had a big disagreement. It was something like 21 (?) that were killed by gunfire. Too bad there weren't more killed. And I bet the anti-liberty crowd will blame it all on the easy access to guns here in the US.

Then another criminal disagreement just across the river from Texas resulted in bullets striking a city government building on the north side.

And a wildlife refuge in Arizona (I think) is now partially owned by the Mexican criminals, because it's been abandoned by our Fed government. You know, the organization who's main purpose was intended to provide national security. The guys and gals who for decades continually infringe on our liberty and ignore their primary job.

Looks to me like it's time for the citizens to take up arms and head to the southern border. we are in fact being invaded, and the Fed won't do anything about it.

I'm in favor of bringing our boys back from Afghanistan and Iraq and posting them in the south. But wait, there's something illegal here in the states about deploying federal troops inside our own borders. I think I have a solution to that. Let's deploy them just south of our border.
