Stiil a Gimp

Went to the Doc today after wearing the air cast boot for 2 weeks.  As expected the Achilles tendon is not yet healed, but much better.  Other than when sleeping or doing therapy exercises I need to wear it for another week or 2.  After the first I'm supposed to call in with an update.  If it's still sore to the touch we'll consider a MRI and possibly surgery.

Until then the granddaughter will be helping with cleaning stalls and generally helping to care for the horses.

Enough Crying Already

As I've grown older I've noticed a larger percentage of people that refuse to take any responsibility for their lot in life.  If things aren't as they want, it's always blamed on something or someone else.  For instance, those that are financially poor because they chose not to work and acquire skills blame their lot in life on the successful.  They typically think the successful are evil and should be punished, by sacrificing what they worked for to support them.  This is childish behavior at best.

The most public example of this is Hillary and her supporters.  The election was lost precisely because of her own actions.  It's no ones fault but her own.  Blaming others is the typical reaction of the left.  That stuff is damn tiring.

Radical - Not Really

Fight and slay the Pagans wherever you find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem.   Surah 9:5

This quote is from the Islam version of their new testament, the more recent writings.

Shortly after 9/11, on a different blog, I received negative comments for stating that as a matter of self-preservation I have to consider all Muslims a threat until proven differently.  Muslim theology has been around for well over 1,000 years.  And that's over 1,000 years of violence from the Muslim world.

My attitude has only altered in that I am more suspicious of Muslims than ever.  And I make no apologies for that.  Terrorists are not radical or fanatics, they are followers of Muhammad's teachings.  They are 'true' Muslims. A cancer on the earth that should be eradicated for their crimes against humanity.

More Limping

The orthopedist said  suspected partially torn Achilles tendon at the heel connection.  So I'll be wearing an air cast boot for 2 weeks.  I can navigate the stairs to my desk, but can't wear the required safety shoes in the shop.  The health and safety engineer will determine if I can go to work for the next 2 weeks.  Cleaning horse stalls will be a major challenge, though I suspect the granddaughter will be a big help.

Handgun Specs

Why is it that one of the most important specifications is never published.  That's the distance from the center of the back strap, circumferentially, to the center of the trigger.  That's just as important as any of the normally published specification, especially for those with hands larger or smaller than average.

That's also why I only own one modern design pistol.  I prefer the Hi-Power or 1911because they fit me better.  The 1911 can easily be modified to fit most hand sizes.

Limping Along

A couple months ago I made the mistake of pulling, not pushing a cart loaded with a few hundred pounds of horse feed.  I pulled it right into my heel.  The soreness lasted a few days.

A week and a half ago I helped the Boss do some yard work, and quit when the same heel started hurting.  Next morning I could hardly walk, but it went away a couple of days later.

Wednesday I cleaned our 2 horse stalls, 3 wheelbarrow loads about 100 yards to the pile.  Yesterday I could hardly walk again. Experiencing a lot of pain with any kind of weight on the foot.  Not working today.  Walking across the parking lot and climbing 36 steps to my desk is out of the question, though I barely managed it yesterday with a cane.   The Boss brought me crutches a moment ago, so I'm now mostly mobile again.  The policy is no crutches at work, even though I work mostly at a desk, so I'll be off for a while.

Seeing a orthopedist Monday.  I have pain and swelling where the tendon attaches to the heel.  Actually, the only pain is when I put any weight on that foot.  No pain at all just sitting here.
