End Run The Constitution

While the Fed has been pushing the Marxist agenda despite the will of The People, an end run is in the making aimed at disarming the citizens and turning us into subjects of the state. And there's no concern about the elections of 2012 because if they're successful it'll be too late. Assuming it is ratified, all of us citizens will be disarmed puppets by then. Clinton will sign the UN treaty that will eliminate the 2A and our sovereignty at the same time. With government controlling what used to be private businesses and health care, the arms of The People is all that stands in the way of complete government take-over of our very lives.

Number 3 Come July 29

Arizona has been talked about lately concerning their decision to to do what the Feds have refused to do, enforce immigration laws. What you don't hear much about is that it will soon become the third state that won't require licensing to legally carry a concealed handgun. As of July 29, anyone over 21 in Arizona may carry a gun, concealed or in the open, as long as the person is not a prohibited possessor, such as a felon or a visitor or student from another country. This looks to be fair analysis of the situation.

The Land of The Free has increasingly become less free my entire lifetime. It's good to hear that at least some ares are still free, and still ruled by The People.

Restaurant Carry

It's taken a while, but the state is catching on to the need, no requirement, to trust citizens. So how about the Feds?

Bad Smell - - Corruption

According to this writer Something Stinks in the Whitehouse. My only comment is what took you so long to notice? Evil odors have been drifting from that building, and the capital building, for decades.

454 in a Long Gun

I've once again acquired the fever to buy a long gun chambered in the 454 Casull. Out of my Super Redhawk I load the 240Gr bullet to 1800F/S and the 300Gr to 1600F/S. I've read reports that out of a rifle length barrel, it rivals, if not surpasses the 45-70 in power. Whether it does or not, not sure I care. It'll still be pretty cool. Besides, the safe and gun closet are both lacking a lever-cranker.

I saw one in a local shop a few months ago, but declined to handle it because the temptation might be more than I can resist. I thought it was Henry, but I can't find this chambering on their website. Unfortunately I didn't find it on Marlin's either. I did find that Howa/Rossi/Puma makes a Winchester92 clone chambered for the 454.

Maybe this weekend I'll trek on up to the local shop and see if they still have the one I saw. If it's still there I'm going to caress it with loving hands and listen for sweet words in return.

Target Focus

My first experiences with firearms concerned hunting small game with a 410 bore shotgun, a gift from my grandfather. The first gun I bought was a 22 rifle that was also intended for hunting, squirrels. When using a scatter gun it's normal to look at the target, point the gun at the target and take the shot. I learned early on to focus on the target, leaving the shotgun barrel blurry. When my shooting expanded to rifles and handguns, I didn't change a thing. I focus on the target, not the sights.

That's why I was surprised when attending my first CCW class, intended for the new shooter, that they instruct to focus on the front sight. In my case marksmanship is not better when focusing on the front sight, and I'm slower on target. I always shoot with both eyes open, even a scoped rifle.

I'm writing about this because this issue of Concealed Carry Magazine suggests that aging eyes do better if the shooter focuses on the target, rather than the front sight, and the target is engaged with more speed. All I can say is "well duh" I've known that for decades. And at least for me there's no adjustment in shooting mechanics required.

Good Books

A few weeks ago I finished reading Glenn Beck's Arguing With Idiots, and more recently I finished a book called Flying Blind. Apparently, being an old dude, I'm in the minority in that "reading" whether for pleasure or information is actually a good thing. All the latest tech sources of information are great, wonderful and all, but as far as I'm concerned a good book beats them all.

I bought Arguing With Idiots primarily for entertainment value, but was surprised at the amount of factual information that was presented in a logical method to make his points. I shouldn't have been surprised because regardless of what one thinks about Beck, it's extremely difficult to find fault with his facts and logic. If it was easy the loonies would attack him on those grounds, which they just don't do.

Flying Blind is about a radio talk show host and writer that started investigating the post 911 air travel security. His biggest claim is that the government and agencies have gone so far being politically correct that they're putting us all in danger. He believes that ethnical, and religious profiling is a necessity in today's world. He makes a good and valid argument in defense of that position. His investigations started when his 9 year old son was chosen for advanced screening, he volunteered to take his sons place, and this was acceptable to the screeners. This happened not once but 2 times. Then it got a real boost when he learned that airlines were fined by the Feds if they had more than 2 terrorist looking people in line for extra screening.

-----------------

Yesterday at the grandsons birthday party one daughter-in-law wondered at the advisability of allowing a 3 year old to play with toy guns when real guns were in the house. I've never thought about that much but I can see where it might give pause to some. I played with toy guns and my father had guns. My sons played with toy guns and I have guns. My grandson plays with toy guns and his father has guns. I personally know of no time where this has been an issue, despite what the psychologists and gun-phobes say. At the young age of 2 my grandson once asked if what I was holding was a real gun. Kids actually do know the difference.

Similarly I don't see a problem with kids playing war, and even most violent video games. I actually still play war in the guise of paintball games. We are actually playing at war. And again I personally know of no one that has gone on a killing spree that can even remotely be attributed to this play.

I wish the know it all, for your own good crowd would simply butt out.

Getting Old

Tomorrow afternoon we're heading on over to the my son's house for a celebration of his son's 3rd birthday. As I sit here I can hear the Boss talking to another grandson who is 14.

Just thinking about that makes me feel old as hell.

Not Surprising

I guess this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone since the Feds don't care if we're invaded. But I am disgusted by the whole concept of wide open borders, and anybody wanting our borders secured by enforcing our laws getting crapped on.

Our air travel security is a joke and our borders are full of huge gaping holes. Besides being bad for us economically, it's an invitation for terrorists attacks.

Isn't it wonderful having a government full of incompetents . . . . or are they intent on changing the very fabric of this once great nation.

Guns in the Air

Many years ago my father told me a story of how he flew on a trip with a shotgun for hunting. He put it in a cloth case and carried it right to the plane. It was handed to a crew member for safe storage during the flight, and returned once back on the ground. Can you imagine the panic that would cause in today's world?

My first of 3 experiences with traveling by air, with a firearm, was when my father passed. As I recall I called the airlines, got their rules and complied. I don't remember if the 38 revolver was there or not, but I do remember the long gun case for the shotgun I brought home. After all the inspections and stuff, I just picked it up at the destination as normal luggage, I think. Anyway, that was maybe 13 years ago. The requirements today are much the same as then. James has a good description of the requirements for travel with a gun.

I have traveled by air with a firearm twice since then. It's really not that big of a deal as long as you follow the rules to the letter. On both occasions the bag was hand searched in my presence and marked as searched after going through the x-ray. So unlike other baggage, that one can be locked. One time I had 2 handguns with us, one for me and one for the Boss. I can tell you from experience that you DO NOT want to forget to unload one before going through the security. Eight years ago that stupid lapse of memory cost me a lot of embarrassment and a $300 fine.

Since then I've avoided air travel as much as possible, but not because of any problem with having a gun in my luggage. I simply don't tolerate being cramped in an airplane seat very well, and I hate the feel good security BS. And BS it is. Most technically competent engineers can smuggle knives and a firearm onto an airplane right through all their security.

OOPS and Getting Off Clean

The Boss seems to be the go-to gal at the small church she attends. She's in charge of the women's ministries and once again the worker bee for the annual church garage sale. As you might expect, since I support the Boss, I get dragged into her church activities. We spent most of the day transporting tables, transporting donated items for the sale, and setting up a lot of the same in the church basement. I tell you this because of what happened on the last trip.

I was driving my Nissan Frontier crew cab with the Boss beside me and Amber (Siberian Husky) in the back seat. The dog is not usually allowed in the cab, but in the covered bed, because of the fur situation. In this case the bed of the truck was full.

Anyway I turned down a road that I drove back and forth to work for 16 years, but hadn't been on in the last 3 or 4 years. I'm driving along, talking to the Boss, and I notice a LEO getting ready to turn onto the same road. I basically ignored the cruiser until I see flashing lights in the mirror. I then turned on my turn signals, pulled off the road where we wouldn't be a bother to traffic, and stopped. I had absolutely no idea what the LEO wanted. As best as I can remember, this is what happened.

Boss: Are you carrying your gun?
Now that was a silly question.
Me: Yes, that's why I'm keeping my hands on the wheel.
Boss: Should I keep my hands in plain sight too?
Me: It will probably make the LEO more comfortable if you do.
I roll down the window, the LEO approaches, then put my hand back on the wheel
LEO: License and proof of insurance please.
Then before I can say anything back.
LEO: Are you carrying today sir?
In Ohio I'm required to tell the LEO that I'm licensed to carry and if I have a weapon at that time. He beat me to the punch.
Me: Yes sir I am. That's why I'm keeping my hands on the wheel.
LEO: Where is it sir?
Me: Right hip.
LEO: Well we won't have a problem if you don't draw on me.
At this point I needed to rein in my normal smart ass comment of "I won't have a problem if you don't draw on me either." I kept my mouth shut on that.
LEO: Go ahead and get your license and proof of insurance please.
Me: License is in my left hip pocket.
LEO: OK.
I pull out my wallet and give him the license.
Me: Insurance card is in the glove box.
LEO: OK.
The Boss opens the glove box and hands me the insurance card. The LEO looks at it and hands it back to me.
Me: Sir, why did you stop me?
LEO: I clocked you doing 55 in a 35 zone.
Me: 35? How long has this been a 35 zone?
Leo: It was changed a couple of years ago when they widened the road.
Me: Really? Is there a sign?
LEO: Yes, just as you turn on the road.
Me: OK, well crap!
The LEO walks back to the cruiser and returns in maybe a minute or two with my drivers license.
LEO: Be sure to slow it down in the future on this road.
The LEO didn't have his citation book with him. My smart ass side almost blurted "what no ticket?", but I managed to keep that to myself.
Me: Yes sir.
LEO: Thank you.
Me: Thank you.

So there you have it.

I was going 20mph over the limit, though I didn't know it at the time.

I failed to notify him of my carry license because he beat me to it. Nothing like on-board wireless computers to check on suspects.

And I got away clean. He really should have written me up even though I'm rather clean. A speeding ticket maybe 20 years ago, and 1 instance at a Florida airport probably 6 years ago. That's another story.

So why wasn't I written up? Could it be he was in a generous mood, my charm and good looks, my concealed carry license, my relatively clean record, or the sign on the back of the truck that says "fire the federal government"?

I wasn't about to tempt him to change his mind, so I didn't ask.

Ted Speaks Truth

Good people don't want the rapist to succeed. We want him dead. We don't want our homes invaded. We want invaders dead. We don't like carjackers. We like them dead. We don't like armed robbers. We like them dead.

We have examined all the evidence we could possibly need to know that calling 911 is a joke unless, of course, the cops bring a dustpan and a mop to clean up the dead monster we just shot while protecting our families.

OK, so go read the rest.

Defecating

Overwhelmed by what he saw as the idiocy of a recent complaint to the Texas Commision on Environmental Quality, Limestone County Judge Daniel Burkeen felt compelled to author an appropriate response after being asked to investigate whether a hunting lodge owner was allowing patrons to defecate in the woods.

If you want a chuckle, go read the whole article, it's not very long.

I especially liked this part.

Judge Burkeen concludes the TCEQ response by saying, "Lastly, please allow us to handle this at the local level, and do not involve the federal government. When it comes to matters of excessive defecation, Washington bureaucrats would only add to our misery.

Priceless!!

Potential Enemy

Several years ago when I was a co-blogger on The Beagle Express I mentioned that I consider each and every Muslim a potential personal and national enemy. I had a few comments that called me several unkind names for that statement. Since then I've seen nothing and I've heard nothing that changes my mind. To think otherwise is foolish as a minimum and generally just stupid.

I've read a couple books concerning that religion, one written by somebody that was Muslim at one time. Those books have convinced me that this religion of peace is not as described. It teaches conversion, and if not successful then kill the non-believers. The peaceful are the aberration, not the terrorists, because they are peaceful.

I don't want to believe this way, but that's where the evidence leads. If the Muslims of the world want me to think differently, then they'll just have to prove it.

In this I'm not alone. I received this through e-mail.

'YOU WORRY ME!' By American Airlines Pilot - Captain John Maniscalco

I've been trying to say this since 911, but you worry me. I wish you didn't. I wish when I walked down the streets of this country that I love, that your color and culture still blended with the beautiful human landscape we enjoy in this country. But you don't blend in anymore. I notice you, and it worries me.

I notice you because I can't help it anymore.

People from your homelands, professing to be Muslims, have been attacking and killing my fellow citizens and our friends for more than 20 years now. I don't fully understand their grievances and hate, but I know that nothing can justify the inhumanity of their attacks.

On September 11, ARAB-MUSLIMS hijacked four jetliners in my country. They cut the throats of women in front of children and brutally stabbed to death others. They took control of those planes and crashed them into buildings killing thousands of proud fathers, loving sons, wise grandparents, elegant daughters, best friends, favorite coaches, fearless public servants, and children's mothers.

The Palestinians celebrated, the Iraqis were overjoyed as was most of the Arab world. So, I notice you now. I don't want to be worried. I don't want to be consumed by the same rage and hate and prejudice that has destroyed the soul of these terrorists But I need your help. As a rational American, trying to protect my country and family in an irrational and unsafe world, I must know how to tell the difference between you, and the Arab/Muslim terrorist.

How do I differentiate between the true Arab/Muslim Americans and the Arab/Muslim terrorists in our communities who are attending our schools, enjoying our parks, and living in OUR communities under the protection of OUR constitution, while they plot the next attack that will slaughter these same good neighbors and children?

The events of September 11th changed the answer. It is not my responsibility to determine which of you embraces our great country, with ALL of its religions, with ALL of its different citizens, with all of its faults. It is time for every Arab/Muslim in this country to determine it for me.

I want to know, I demand to know, and I have a right to know, whether or not you love America . Do you pledge allegiance to its flag? Do you proudly display it in front of your house, or on your car? Do you pray in your many daily prayers that Allah will bless this nation, that He will protect and prosper it? Or do you pray that Allah with destroy it in one of your Jihad's? Are you thankful for the freedom that only this nation affords? A freedom that was paid for by the blood of hundreds of thousands of patriots who gave their lives for this country? Are you willing to pr eserve this freedom by also paying the ultimate sacrifice? Do you love America ? If this is your commitment, then I need YOU to start letting ME know about
it.

Your Muslim leaders in this nation should be flooding the media at this time with hard facts on your faith, and what hard actions you are taking as a community and as a religion to protect the United States of America . Please, no more benign overtures of regret for the death of the innocent because I worry about who you regard as innocent. No more benign overtures of condemnation for the unprovoked attacks because I worry about what is unprovoked to you. I am not interested in any more sympathy. I am only interested in action. What will you do for America - our great country - at this time of crisis, at this time of war?

I want to see Arab-Muslims waving the AMERICAN flag in the streets. I want to hear you chanting 'Allah Bless America ' I want to see young Arab/Muslim men enlisting in the military. I want to see a commitment of money, time, and emotion to the victims of this butchering and to this nation as a whole.

The FBI has a list of over 400 people they want to talk to regarding the WTC attack. Many of these people live and socialize right now in Muslim communities. You know them.

You know where they are. Hand them over to us, now! But I have seen little even approaching this sort of action. Instead I have seen an already closed and secretive community close even tighter. You have disappeared from the streets. You have posted armed security guards at your facilities. You have threatened lawsuits. You have screamed for protection from reprisals.

The very few Arab/Muslim representatives that HAVE appeared in the media were defensive and equivocating. They seemed more concerned with making sure that the United States proves who was responsible before taking action. They seemed more concerned with protecting their fellow Muslims from violence directed towards them in the United States and abroad than they did with support ing our country and denouncing 'leaders' like Khadafi, Hussein,
Farrakhan, and Arafat.

If the true teachings of Islam proclaim tolerance and peace and love for all people, then I want chapter and verse from the Koran and statements from popular Muslim leaders to back it up. What good is it if the teachings in the Koran are good, and pure, and true, when your 'leaders' are teaching fanatical interpretations, terrorism, and intolerance? It matters little how good Islam SHOULD BE if huge numbers of the world's Muslims interpret the teachings of Mohammed incorrectly and adhere to a degenerative form of the religion. A form that has been demonstrated to us over and over again. A form whose structure is built upon a foundation of violence, death, and suicide. A form whose members are recruited from the prisons around the world. A form whose members (some as young as five years old) are seen day after day, week in and week out, year after year, marching in the streets around the world, burning effigies of our presidents, burning the American flag, shooting weapons into the air. A form whose members convert from a peaceful religion, only to take up arms against the great United States of America, the country of their birth. A form whose rules are so twisted, that their traveling members refuse to show their faces at airport security checkpoints, in the name of Islam.

We will NEVER allow the attacks of September 11, or any others for that matter, to take away that which is so precious to us: Our rights under the greatest constitution in the world. I want to know where every Arab Muslim in this country stands and I think it is my right and the right of every true citizen of this country to demand it. A right paid for by the blood of thousands of my brothers and sisters who died protecting the very constitution that is protecting you and your family.

I am pleading with you to let me know. I want you here as my brother, my neighbor, my friend, as a fellow American.

But there can be no gray areas or ambivalence regarding your allegiance, and it is up to YOU, to show ME, where YOU stand. Until then.

'YOU WORRY ME!'

Bucket Economy

In part this is why I will never be able to retire. I'll have to work as long as I'm able, because the government keeps screwing with us, . . . . for "the general good" of all.

. . . It isn't bad home loans, or under performing financial sectors, or irresponsible executives which are really the problem here. It is something far more pervasive. And destructive.

The government is stealing from us. All governments really. From everyone. That's what government is.

And the economy suffers the very predictable results of being subject to a large, parasitic entity which exists to constantly drain productive capital. It coughs. It struggles. It limps along. And eventually it will die.

Imagine the economy as a bucket half full of water. The goal is to fill the bucket completely. In order to do so, the government dips into it and removes a cup of water, and then pours it back in again. They repeat this process over and over again, and can't figure out why no matter how many cups they pour in, the bucket never gets full.

Only the problem is even worse, because as I've said before, for every dollar they spend on stimulating economic growth, they must pay for tax collectors, and reams of forms, and offices which must be heated and cooled, and name plates and parking spaces and pencil sharpeners. It's like they dip into that bucket, drink half the cup, and pour the other half back. So now, the bucket doesn't even stay half full. Instead it gradually loses water.

Almost 200,000 Gun Toters

We now have almost 200,000 (and growing) in Ohio licensed to carry a concealed handgun. That doesn't take into account those that got licensed as a Florida non-resident, which also allows them to carry in Ohio. Personally, I have both.

Only 52 licenses were revoked. Less than one-half of 1 percent of all CHLs have ever been revoked for any reason, including death or moving out of state.

That means the licensed gun toter is more law-abiding than the average citizen. The only noticeable "blood running in the streets" come from, or by, the mutant population that ignore laws and have no morals.

Damn His Young Eyes

Last Saturday at the range my eldest managed to shoot a 2" three shot group at 200 yards with a Swedish LJungman using the original military iron sites.

His friend, shooting my CETME with a 9X scope could only keep 3 of 6 on the paper at 200 yards. I can shoot 3" 200 yard groups with it. I've changed it to have a telescoping stock since this picture was taken.

If I really want to see how well my rifle shoots, I hand it to my son. It's not just his young eyes, he's just a better rifle shot than I am. So far I'm still better with a handgun, but I got a feeling that'll be changing before long.

Morons . . . All and Powermongers

Via e-mail comes this

Democrats, Republicans, EVERYONE!!

To President Obama and all 535 voting members of the Legislature,

It is now official you are ALL corrupt morons:

* The U.S. Post Service was established in 1775. You have had 234
years to get it right and it is broke.
* Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 74 years to
get it right and it is broke.
* Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 71 years to get it
right and it is broke.
* War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 45 years to get it
right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to
"the poor" and they only want more.
* Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 44
years to get it right and they are broke.
* Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 39 years to get it
right and it is broke.
* The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our
dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a
budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before. You
had 32 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure.

You have FAILED in every "government service" you have shoved down our
throats while overspending our tax dollars AND YOU WANT AMERICANS TO BELIEVE
YOU CAN BE TRUSTED WITH A GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM??

And A Ditto From Me

Important safety tip to Police: My pets are part of my family, I will defend them with all the force and vigor with which I would defend my wife or children. If you have a warrant to serve on my home, you would be well served to knock on the frakking door and give me enough time to answer it. If you kick the door down and start shooting at my dogs, I WILL shoot back. I obviously won't be able to stand up for long against a cadre of body armored and armed polizei in full assault mode, but I can guarantee that I'll take at least one or two of the murderers in uniform with me on the way out.

If, on the other hand, you knock on the door, give me the opportunity to answer it, and show me the warrant, I'll be more than happy to secure the dogs and let you into the house without a problem. You get to execute your warrant, and everyone gets to keep breathing for one more day. Win-win.

If the police don't want their fellow citizens treating them like the enemy, they'd better call off the war and start treating us with the same common courtesy that they'd like to receive.

Why Do They Stay ?

I just don't understand why any gun manufacturer would willingly stay in Illinois. Why in the world would they pay taxes to a government that continually opposes their business, let alone the 2A. If I was a COE I'd be willing to cut profits just to move to a friendlier location. Staying seems rather silly.

Busy Weekend

Saturday the eldest wanted me to go with him to the range because I have a member ship with visitor rights, and he doesn't. He wanted to bring a friend. The friend is also a guy that he's known most of his life and a frequent paint ball partner. It was a good time, as 4 hours shooting and blabbing usually are.

Then the Boss had planned an open fire dog roast in the back yard. About 50 friends and family were invited, most from her church. Unfortunately the wind was gusting up to 35MPH. Fear of sparks blowing onto children and the neighboring pine trees caused us to cook the dogs on the grill and spend most of the evening inside. Despite the crowd I think most had a good time. As for me, I retreated to the "man cave" on several occasions.

Sunday morning found the dog and me on the local trails, then to my surprise the adopted grandchildren and parents spent the afternoon into the middle evening hours. Instead of dogs we had steaks this time.

A good weekend but old arty is screaming at me. Both big toes, one knee and hip.

Arizona SB 1070

So I finally got around to reading the new Arizona bill that is causing all the fuss from the anti-nationalist bunch. It's Arizona SB 1070. As far as I can tell it comes very close to a carbon copy of the Fed law except it gives local LEOs the ability to enforce our law concerning illegal immigration. If this state law violates any civil rights, in any manner, then so does the Fed law. You know, the law that the Fed refuses to enforce. If SB 1070 is not constitutional, then the same can be said for the Fed law. And if that's an illegal law, then it should be re-written to make it pass constitutional muster. To date, the Fed has done a miserable job of protecting our borders from foreign invasion, and that's one of the few reasons to even have a Fed government.

Now this guy makes a good point that our restrictive gun laws are more in violation of civil rights that SB 1070. I hadn't thought about it that way before. Besides, the constitution only guarantees civil right to the citizens of this country. If someone is here illegally, as far as I'm concerned that person has no civil rights under our law.

I hear that some are calling for a boycott of Arizona. I think my next vacation will include a trip to Arizona. They've recently retracted laws that make it illegal to carry a gun in any manner desired, including concealed. They have a sheriff (I think that's the state) that knows how to run a jail. And now they've thumbed their collective noses at the Fed. Now that's my kind of attitude.

Telling it Like it is

You all probably know the story but watch it anyway
I especially like the last part.
