How Many ?

Some people carry concealed guns, like me.  Some carry openly.  Some carry a reload or two.
Then there's Josie Wells, who carries four handguns, openly.

Josie learned to shoot with only one hand, right or left.  It was a good idea for him, and I think it's a good idea for anyone who carries for self-defense.  I practice with my weak hand, but it still remains my weak hand.  Hope I never need to use it in a defensive situation.

Personal Choices

The choice of a firearm is as personal as socks and underware.  This guy has listed his top 5.  I agree with the Kahr PM9.  I carry one frequently, but my favorite is a Kimber 3 inch 1911 mostly because it a larger caliber and easier to shoot than any of the newer designs..

His top choices don't seem to include any of the old classics.  He must be younger than I am.

More Evidenc - Corupt and Inept

Holder has been stonewalling the congressional committee for months, refusing to surrender documents and making statements that were later proven to be untrue.  Threatened with contempt charges he gets help from Obama who declares executive privaledge. For what reason?  Obama says he didn't know anything about fast & furious, so what is he and Holder hiding?

It becomes more and more obvious that this administration is corrupt, and so inept that they can't handle their jobs or keep their corruption under wraps.  And these are our leaders?  Man are we screwed!

Continue Cleaning the Poop

Via e-mail came this gem by Maxine.

I bought a bird feeder. I hung
It on my back porch and filled
It with seed. What a beauty of
A bird feeder it was, as I filled it Lovingly with seed.

Within a week we had hundreds of birds
Taking advantage of the
Continuous flow of free and
Easily accessible food.
But then the birds started
Building nests in the boards
Of the patio, above the table,
And next to the barbecue.
Then came the poop. It was
Everywhere: on the patio tile,
The chairs, the table ..
Everywhere!

Then some of the birds
Turned mean. They would
Dive bomb me and try to
Peck me even though I had
Fed them out of my own
Pocket.

And others birds were
Boisterous and loud. They
Sat on the feeder and
Squawked and screamed at
All hours of the day and night
And demanded that I fill it
When it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn't even
Sit on my own back porch
Anymore. So I took down the
Bird feeder and in three days
The birds were gone. I cleaned
Up their mess and took down
The many nests they had built
All over the patio.

Soon, the back yard was like
It used to be ..... Quiet, serene....
And no one demanding their
Rights to a free meal.

Now let's see.
Our government gives out
Free food, subsidized housing,
Free medical care and free
Education, and allows anyone
Born here to be an automatic
Citizen.

Then the illegal's came by the
Tens of thousands. Suddenly
Our taxes went up to pay for
Free services; small apartments
Are housing 5 families; you
Have to wait 6 hours to be seen
By an emergency room doctor;
Your child's second grade class is
Behind other schools because
Over half the class doesn't speak
English.

Corn Flakes now come in a
Bilingual box; I have to
'press one ' to hear my bank
Talk to me in English, and
People waving flags other
Than 'Old Glory' are
Squawking and screaming
In the streets, demanding
More rights and free liberties.

Just my opinion, but maybe
it's time for the government
To take down the bird feeder.

If you agree, pass it on; if not,
Just continue cleaning up the poop!

It's Obvious

to anyone actually paying attention, that the Obama administration is the most inept and the most corrupt in my lifetime.  And it seems that most people haven't a clue.  Why else would nearly half the population still support that clown.

Where Not to Live

Despite the continuing fall in violent crime rates nationally (gun ownership and CCW is going up . . go figure) some cities are seeing an increase in their crime rates.  Glad I don't live near any of them.

Old Dogs

can learn new tricks, or at least re-learn them.
Once again I have proven to myself that being over 60 years and a life long desk jockey, does not make for a body that appreciates physical work in elevated temperatures.  Last Saturday was spent with 2 hours of chain saw work, then 2 more hours each of 2 evenings this last week.

Today was 4 hours with the chain saw.  I went through 3 sets of soggy sweaty clothes.  I swear that every muscle in my body is maximum fatigued, sore as hell, or both.

New Toy

Yesterday a friend showed me his new S&W AR.  It's all tricked out with rails and stuf.  Quick detatchable 2-6 scope and flip up sights.  A far as I'm concerned, it can lose the hand sawing rails and folding vertical front grip.

Everybody has different ideas about the perfect long gun.  Needless to say I like mine better since it was built to my specifications.

Hopefully, some day I'll have another AR but chambered for 6.5 MM for long range, precision shooting.  As of yet I haven't decided which 6.5.

More BS From Obama

So the private sector is doing fine, but the state and local governments are not, so says Obama.
What s stinking turd we have as president.  Does he actually believe his own lies?
To all who fell for the smoke and mirrors of that snake oil salesman, are you feeling guilty yet?

Magnum or Not

When I purchased my first 357, Ruger Security Six, It felt like a magnum when shooting it.  At one time I hand some hand loads that launched a 110Gr bullet at about 1600 F/S.  The huge fire ball coming from the end of the barrel was really cool in low light, though I couldn't hit a barn, from the inside, with that load.  I now load 158Gr hollow points at about 1300 F/S, and use the revolver for hunting deer.

These days it no longer feels like a magnum to me.  The 41, 44 and 454 guns feel like magnums, though the 41 not so much.

How a handgun feels can be a bit deceiving.  Size, weight and how it fits the hand have a huge effect on felt recoil.  For instance I own a Charter Arms 44 Special that physically hurts with any ammunition with more recoil that a 240Gr bullet launched at 700 F/S.  That is certainly not a 'magnum' load, but in that light weight 5 shot revolver it's worse than the 454 Casull in the Ruger Super Redhawk.

James makes a good point in claiming that the 40 Cal could be considered a magnum based on muzzle energy.  I've shot a few pistols chambered for that cartridge.  Never has it felt like a magnum, even when from a subcompact.   But like I said, the feel can be deceiving.

Blessed

After hearing about the latest federal employment report, I feel lucky to have a decent paying and interesting job.  Maybe feeling blessed is a better description.

And that same news has reinforced my contempt for our federal government, and the present administration (and friends) in particular.  All the recent polls say that nearly half the US population favors Obama.  That's sad.  That tells me that nearly half the US population is dumber than a rock.

Progress

Once I mount some under cabinet lighting and the press, my armory area will be complete and ready for use.  If I ever get the time to use up the ammo on hand.

Tomorrow we're heading to the old place to get some odds and ends.  Among them will be 4 bench top power tools.  When I get them here and put away a few boxes of Misc stuff, the shop will be complete.

We're making progress, but slower than either of us want.
