Racism

There was a time not too long ago when I was convinced that racism was for the most part a thing of the past in this country. The last few weeks, and especially today, have proven me wrong. The people are celebrating that a black man, or that an African has become president. This is mostly the sentiment of those of similar skin color, in a country where skin color shouldn't matter one little bit. There's hardly been a word spoken that he's an American.

Back in the days of my youth the whites held blacks in contempt. Now it's mostly the other way around. Will there ever be a time when we as a people don't pay attention to race?
