Moved In . . . Mostly

Saturday the youngest son and wife helped us move some more stuff.  We filled 2 puckup trucks and a 5x8 utility trailer, mostly with things that are hard to pack, though there were some more boxes of kitchen and gun stuff.  Damn was that a hot day.  The boy and I were soaked from our toes to the top of our heads.

Yesterday and today were spend unpacking, and trying to figure out where to store things.

Tomorrow and the next are vacation days for me.  Tomorrow will be mostly setting up the shop area and urethane on the new reloading bench  Then the next back to the 'big house' for bench mounted power tools, the rest of my reloading supplies and Misc. tools from the shop.

I'm a couple of weeks from being set up to load ammunition, godd thing I have plenty on hand because I'm getting itchy to hit the range once the weather cools off.

Pain

And more pain.  My feet hurt, my legs hurt, my back hurts.  Thankfully we hired 2 guys and a truck to do the heavy work.  We have now taken residence in the new 'little house'.  What a mess we have around us now.  Boxes and other stuff scattered everywhere, and we still have some things at the 'big house' to move.

Moving the gun safe down the stairs into the basement was a chore.  Those 2 men couldn't handle it by themselves, so I had to pitch in.

Hopefully I can actually move in the morning.  Have to get up and go to work.

Heard from the fence people yesterday.  It's going to be 6 weeks before they can replace the fence with the 6 Ft. version we want.  The chain link isn't a problem, but it seems the vinyl fence manufacturers are running behind.

Just a Thought

You don't need a parachute to sky dive.
You need a parachute if you want to do it again.

Heard that somewhere recently.

Moving Update

The 'little house' now has cable with TV, Telephone and Internet.  The contract installers said they couldn't run the co-ax to the loft over the garage, 100 feet from the house because it would require boring under the concrete walkway.  But today a direct hire from the cable company ran a line out there without going under the walk.  He looked it over, we discussed options, then it took him about an hour to get it done.  Well, mostly done.  The line has been run, and it works, but another crew will arrive to bury the cable.

This coming Wednesday we will officially take up residence in the down-sized place.  A couple of guys and a truck will load and transport the remaining and larger items, like the washer, dryer, freezer, refrigerator, our bedroom furniture, remaining family room furniture, and gun safe.  Moving the remainder of my tools, and firearms and associated stuff, is up to me.  I'll empty out the safe Tuesday night.  Don't want these guys having actual knowledge of its contents.

Earlier this week we signed an agreement for a company to remove a bunch of old fence and install 6 ft tall privacy fence on the back line, and the same height chain link around the rest of the yard.  Our 4 month old Sheba Inu won't require such a tall fence when she's grown, but a future adopted Siberian Husky just might.  Some of those dogs are good climbers. Looks like we have 2-3 weeks to clear some vegetation off the fence line.

Then later on we'll attempt to move the grand-childrens elevated playhouse and trampoline.  My boys should be able to help me with that.

Now that I've been up for about an hour in the middle of the night, time to get some sleep.

Back to Work

Back to work today, or at least half the day.  Left at 1PM for the 'little house' to meet the Boss and 2 technicians installing cable TV, telephone land line and Internet access.  The TV and telephone works, but don't know about the Internet as yet because I didn't have a computer with me.

All this week I'm required to attend training, 2 hours a day, on geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.  It bores the hell out of me because I know the subject.  I even taught an in-house seminar on the subject 2 employers ago.  Oh well, they're paying me for my time, even if it is non-productive.

Illegal Carry ?

One of the places we visited while on vacation was the old city of Anapolis Maryland.  Found some rather interesting shops and great sea food.

I have concealed carry licenses from my home state of Ohio and also Florida.  I carried the whole time in Maryland, though my licenses are not valid there.  On the one hand that's illegal, but the law of the country says otherwise, as does the law of nature.

Being an old guy, I'm becoming more and more the type of person who ignores illegal and especially immoral laws

Foreward ??

Obama has initiated a slogan . . . "Foreward".

I believe that is the same slogan used by multiple liberty squashing governments through history.

His policies have done nothing more than hold our collective heads face down in the mud.

The only 'foreward' coming from this guy and his party is to move us, as a country, into the grave.
