My favorits cartoon character was the Tazmania Devil. My last pickup truck had Taz floor mats and mud flaps. My present truck has Taz steering wheel cover. Apparently our new Sheba Inu puppy, named Miko, was misnamed. She turns into Taz once or twice a day. The Boss says no more puppies for her. They're just too much work.
In this case the pup appears to be rather intelligent. She fetches and sits on command, with almost training.
At 2-1/2 months, she's up to a whopping 5 pounds.
The Boss still wants a second dog, in particular a young adult Siberian Husky. She's found 3 prospects on-line at a sled dog rescue. It's a little strange, but we had to fill out an application form, and a home inspection is required before the organization will consider letting us have a dog. We won't be switching residence for another 3 weeks or so. Consiquently little Miko will just have to be satisfied with us for a while, before meeting her big brother.

New House Update
There were several electrical modifications to the new house that needed to be done. The original plan was for me to do them myself. I spent 1 day crawling around in the attic and decided the pain was just not worth the money or the time saved. This week, 2 men spent 2 days doing what would have taken me several weekends. Getting old just sucks.
The new cabinet for the kitchen should be in next week, and most likely the new counter top will be installed the week after. So I'm guessing we'll finally move in about 3 weeks. So between now and then I need to finish getting the armory ready. And some of the non-essentials will be moved between now and then.

Stupid Buckeyes
Read in the local rag that Obama is ahead in the polls in 3 important swing states. Living in Ohio, one of those states, I'm not proud to say that we must have a lot of stupid people living here.

Just Sad
The big court is about to hear verbal arguments regards the constitutionality of the excrement called Obamacare. It's disappointing and sad that it even has a chance of being upheld.

Stimulus That Works
Once again the 'great Obama' seems to be stimulating industry, the gun industry. A shame all the other stimulus activities have fallen squarely on their corrupt faces.
Sure wish I'd bought Ruger stock a while back.

Still Here
It's hard to tell by my frequency of posting, or lack of, but I am still here. Every time I think of something to say, I'm busy doing else. When I sit down, with a barely working brain, I can't think of a thing worth saying. The job is chaotic since the first of the year. Way too much, and too many, to get done in the time alloted, leaving me physicslly and mentally cooked at the end of the day. I've tried convincing the director to bring in a temporary, but nothing doing there. Trying to get things ready for the upcoming move just adds to the mess.
The eldest and I had planned on attending a tactical shotgun class this summer. I was having trouble deciding on what hardware to acquire. I had it boiled down to a Mossberg pump or a CZ 712 Utility. I now have another year to decide. Found out the class is already booked full. Oh well, maybe I'll have the time for some advanced concealed carry training.
One of, if not the biggest issue fscing this country today is our general lack of memory. We've forgotten what it means to be American, to be part of the country with the most liberty. We've lost our very identity. Want evidence? Look at the polls. Obama shouldn't even have a 5% approval. He's the most anti-American president we've had in my lifetime.

Fraud Promotion
I find it shocking that there's so much to-do about states enacting voter ID laws. As far back as I can remember, we voters in Ohio not only have to present an ID at the polls, but also verbally give our address before casting our choices. Proving who you are, and that you're a local citizen is here, and should be, mandatory throughout the country.
Seems to me that only those promoting voter fraud would be against this.

On The Taxpayer
Obama flew into Dayton, Ohio today to view one of the first NCAA tournament basket ball game. I sure hope he enjoyed himself, spending all our money like that.

Well Said
Sent to me via e-mail.
Your laws ignore our deepest needs,
Your words are empty air.
You've stripped away our heritage,
You've outlawed simple prayer.
Now gunshots fill our classrooms,
And precious children die.
You seek for answers everywhere,
And ask the question "Why?"
You regulate restrictive laws,
Through legislative creed.
And yet you fail to understand,
That God is what we need!

Down The Toilet We Go
There's no doubt in my mind, this isn't the country I grew up knowing. We're more socialistic, and seem to welcome the rise of the nanny state.
Window Decor
The other day I saw an interesting rear window decoration. On the back of a medium sized SUV, the sticker showed a shotgun, bolt gun, battle rifle and what may have been a 1911. Now, I am a gun guy, but I wonder about the wisdom of such blatant exhibitionism. Say you're going hunting, or maybe to the range and you stop for food. Doesn't this just scream, steal this here?

We picked up the little puppy Sheba today. The Boss has named her Miko. So far nothing but trouble from the little fur ball. She sat calmly in the Boss's lap the entire 2-1/2 hours coming home. No crying, or squirming, just sat there watching the world go by.
In preparation we bought a small crate, for crate training, and a puppy play pen to surround it. When we put her in the pen she walked around checking it out, then walked into the crate and took a nap. Sure was hard to crate train the little fur ball.
So far so good. I wonder if she'll keep the Boss up tonight.
By the way, she was born on my birthday. Go figure.

Short Handed
Of and on, for about 3 months now I've told the director (of engineering) that if he wants to accomplish most of the 50+ mechanical engineering tasks this year, I need more help. We have myself and one designer. He is a temporary that's been with us for 1-1/2 years.
So far the result has been the possibility of sharing one of the designers from the other part of the company. Just great! That's where we were when I joined the department. Sharing, does little for me and hurts the other part of the business. Why not bring another temporary in for a few months?
Will asking for another temporary make the director look bad? Does he expect me to step up and work 50-60 hours a week? Good luck on that!
I just don't understand.

Tomorrow the Sheba
Even before we lost Amber, our long time family member Siberian Husky, the Boss has wanted 2 dogs. She is partial to females, and tried twice to bring another into the house. Both times, 1 puppy and 1 young adult, resulted in disaster. The older lady just wouldn't tolerate another lady in the house.
Tonight the Boss is like a kid the night before Christmas. Tomorrow we'll be driving a couple of hours to get a 10 week old Sheba Inu female puppy. The pup already has a name, Miko.
We started out looking for a Norwegian Elkhound, but there just aren't any to be found within a half days drive from here. Besides, she's always wanted a Sheba.
For the second dog, another Siberian Husky is the most likely. We found a young male, on line, that looks and sounds good, under the care of a rescue organization. Then today a local animal shelter called saying they have Husky pup. We'll be visiting one or both of them in the near future.
Having 2 dogs sounds good to me. The little Sheba for her and the more manly Husky for me (though I would prefer the Elkhound) when we take walks together. Having 3 would be somewhat awkward I think.

Treading Water
By observation, in my area, I've always thought the unemployment rate was way higher than reported. Lott explains why the usual parameters just do not work in today's world.
Also, did you notice the 1.7% GDP growth? If I'm not mistaken that is at, or slightly less than the population growth rate. The present definition of recession and recovery is obviously very flawed. We have, in actuality, never, I repeat never, started into a recovery. We are at best treading water.

Home Security
James has some pictures of the results of a door being kicked in. That was 'forceful' entry indeed.
Looking at those photos makes me wonder about the security, or lack of security, of my own present, future, and past homes. All of those had a lot of glass, including the doors. Yes we had/have dead bolts, but they are little more than useless with so much glass. Our present home has 2 huge windows. With a rock or piece of firewood, the bad guy can just step inside. The place we just bought has 3 such easy access places. The view is great, so fixing that is a non-starter with the Boss.
I guess we'll just have to rely upon the early warning from a dog or two, and quick access to a 45 and/or a 12 gauge. Sure can't rely on police response where we're at now, or where we'll be moving.

Facts ?
Every now and then I read some article stating that more and more women are buying guns because of rising violent crime. The problem is that according to the FBI statistics, violent crime rates have been on a steady decline for at least a decade. Just love how factual, some "facts' are.
New Family Member Soon
The Boss has made a decision to get another dog, actually 2 dogs. The first choice has been made. She wants, and has put a deposit on, a Shiba Inu puppy. The plan is to go get the little fur ball a week from tomorrow.
The second choice is to be determined. That decision will probably wait until the middle of May. So far a Norwegian Elkhound or another Siberian Husky is under consideration.
