Bump in The Night

Have you seen that commercial where a couple are spending their first night in their home, and they hear something? The hubby starts down the stairs to investigate just in time to see a guy kick in the front door. The alarm starts making a big racket and the bad guy runs away. I wonder if it could really happen that way? It is a commercial, but they don't try to hide the fact that help is actually many minutes away if really needed. I suppose it could happen like that, but I'd still feel much better with a shotgun in hand when checking what went 'bump in the night'.
