This last Monday we went to an indoor/outdoor party at, and with, several members of our adopted family. There were about 15 of us, and not a mask in sight. Yes, we broke the rules, and don't care.
One of the people bought a military Spec. 45 from a dealer. He said it was new but the holster wear is a dead giveaway. It has a feeding issue that I mostly corrected for him with a Dremmel tool creating a feed ramp. I've done the same modification on other older designed 1911 pistols. It still won't reliably feed some HP ammunition, but works fine with my Hornady XTP hand loads. The owner fired 2 magazines through it without an issue, until the end.
The slide locked back and the owner racked the slide to confirm it was empty without looking. The pistol fired. There was still one round that fired when the slide closed. So it jammed and then slam fired. He insists that he was not on the trigger. I had manually cycled many rounds through it to confirm the ramp I created without an issue.
I suspect the firing pin return spring, but it's significantly stronger than any of my four 1911 pistols.
I thought maybe the hammer followed the slide, but have been unable to make that happen on the bench.
So far I haven't found anything, but I'll keep trying.
Maybe he was on the trigger whether he thinks so or not.
