A little over a week ago, I took my annual trip to Michigan for 2 days of paintball. This was the last Tippman Challenge at Hell Survivors. I don't know the final score, but the 6 of us basically kicked ass.
This last weekend the Boss, our 2 dogs , and I were in Nashville Indiana a few days. We naturally spent a lot of time walking the streets, visiting shops intent on taking our money. Having said that, the best part of the trip was relaxing in a cabin in the hills, without cell phone service. I never realize how much stress is in my life until time is spent away, enjoying a pipe of tobacco, and/or a little bourbon while watching the birds and squirrels in the woods.

I live in MI, and you couldn't have come to a better state. Except for the roads. My son returned from living in CA for 3 or 4 years in June. He and his new wife drove in a car and a rental with one of his friends and his friends wife. He said the roads in MI were the worst they had encountered from Cali to here. Just our duly elected politicos failing to do their jobs.
At least we voted in term limits here a few years ago. Of course, every politician says they support them until they are almost due to be limited out. Then they start to say that they didn't know the steep learning curve that came in governing the state and we really need to change our constitution back.
By the way, the first thing by son did when he got back was to buy an AK 47. He hates CA gun laws with a vengeance.
By the way, he got to CA in a roundabout way. Him and some buddies bought a motor home in Mt. Pleasant, went on the road playing music, and just followed their heart. They went through KY, down to Florida, across to Galviston and did hurricane relief, worked in Arizona on an animal rescue center, where they worked with about 150 pitbulls who had been taken from dog fighters.
They then went to Phoenix, where they played at the same place as the Phoenix Suns, only the minor hockey league team was playing. They got to play there, and then got v.i.p. passes.
Then it was off to CA, where they played at the Whiskey A Gogo, which I think is in L.A., where they again got to play. They also have a standing invite to play at the Viper Room, but they have to be able to guarantee a certain crowd size.
They then went up the state, where they landed in San Luis Obispo, and kind of broke up, still playing music, but each finding jobs. He found one making jewelry for a company that makes it out of decommissioned nuclear materials. He did well for them, and I think does most of their web presence, as well as most of their assembly, which he is able to do here in MI still. A few years ago the Peace Corp had it's 50th anniversary. They approached this company to create a small medallion commemorating the occasion, which they did. I have one and it is really cool.
Sorry for such a long post, but I am both proud of my son and also jealous. He will be 35 this December. I started playing saxophone in a rock band when I was 30, and wish I would have been able to go on the road for 5 years. Talk about an adventure. We were much better than his band, but just played bars, and animal clubs, and the occasional wedding. But it was still a lot of fun.
