A New Life

 

 

This is Noah, new to the world at 7.5 pounds and a full head of hair.  His grandmother, the Boss, is holding him for the first time.  This woman was born to be a mother, and now a grandmother. She's an angel living among us. Without her I wouldn't be half the man.

 

We had 2 sons.  Our eldest son has 2 sons.  And now our youngest son has a son.

 

May our children's world be much better than I think it will.

 



Spark the Explosion ?

Unless you haven't been paying attention, you know that Connecticut pass laws banning just about all semi-auto rifles and magazines holding more than 10 rounds.  Anyone owning any of these were to register them or violate a law considered to be a felony.

Guess what.  It appears that most, as many as 100,000, gun owners have failed to register their weapons.  So many of CT gun owners have flipped the bird to their state government.  So what next?  Will state LEOs go after these gun owners, or will they just ignore the new law?  If pushed will these gun owners spark a state civil war?

I suspect state LEO will pretty much ignore this law unless combined with some other offense.  And I also think the gun owners will keep their weapons out of sight, but ignore the new law.  If not, I suspect violence will erupt.

Smart Kid

A little story/joke sent to me via e-mail.

 

I was eating breakfast with my 10-year-old Granddaughter and I asked her,

 

What day is tomorrow?"

 

Without skipping a beat she said, "It's Presidents Day!"

 

She's smart, so I asked her "What does Presidents Day mean?"

 

I was waiting for something about Obama, Bush or Clinton, etc.

 

She replied, "Presidents Day is when the President steps out of the

White House, and if he sees his shadow, we have 4 more years of Bull Shit."

9mm Revolution

More again about the 9mm.

It's all a non-starter to me.  Ho - Hum

If you have short fingers and insist on being able to grip the gun properly with one hand, the choices are slim . . . . limited. 

A double stack Hi-Power with thin grips with a disconnected magazine safety and re-worked trigger position works.  Got one of those.  Too large for concealed carry.

A 1911 with thin grips and short trigger works.  Got 4 of various sizes, and small concealed carry models are easily available.  If you only have 7-8 rounds, might as well be big ones, like 45.

Can't reach the trigger on any double stack striker fired guns regardless of caliber.  A Kahr PM9 single stack is my #2 carry gun, only because it's slightly smaller than my sub-compact 1911, and I can reach the trigger.  Again, if it holds less than 10, they might as well be big ones.

The Survey Said

 . . . . most cops say a federal ban on so-called “assault weapons” isn’t the answer.
More than 91 percent of respondents say it would either have no effect or a negative effect in reducing violent crime.

More than 91 percent of respondents support the concealed carry of firearms by civilians who have not been convicted of a felony and/or not been deemed psychologically/medically incapable.

A full 86 percent feel that casualties would have been reduced or avoided in recent tragedies like Newtown and Aurora if a legally-armed citizen was present (casualties reduced: 80 percent; avoided altogether: 60 percent).

More than 81 percent of respondents were in favor of arming teachers and school administrators if they were properly trained and vetted or at least proficient.

When the concealed carry law was passed here in Ohio, the top cops were all against it.  The usual BS was spouted.  But every cop I've met (only half a dozen) has been in favor of armed citizens.  Now I understand why.

Kicking and Screaming

You should never raise to high office, either democratically or through promotion, people who want high office.  That desire is a signifier of some very unpleasant character traits.

That is a quote from a novel I'm reading.  I find it interesting that novels, especially science fiction and fantasy, relate so well to todays world.  All one has to do is examine the politicians of today, and yesterday, to prove the wisdom of that quote.

I've said for some time that it's rare to have a political leader that truly represents the ideals of our country.  That which is required to get there, is the opposite of the ideals that founded this country.  I want a President who doesn't want to be President.

Turkey Sense

On the way home from work this week, I saw a flock of something close to 30 turkeys.  At first I thought I had somehow been transported to DC.  But after seeing them 3 days in a row, I realized that my DC theory just had to be wrong.  Wild turkeys have a higher IQ than politicians.
