Have you heard of the man, and his family, harassed in New Jersey (?) because he has a Florida carry license? He was smart enough to leave his weapon home while traveling outside the liberty zone of the USA. That didn't help. They were all treated as criminals, just because he happened to own a gun.
Let's face it. The north east, California and Illinois left the USA years ago.
