A co-worker told me he purchased a new Smith M&P 9mm for his wife. Being a certified instructor in multiple disciplines, the choice was his wife's as it should be. He didn't particularly like the pistol because of the lack of a manual safety. The hinged trigger was not at all satisfactory in his mind. He thinks a manual safety is an absolute necessity on an auto pistol.
Did I mention he's a fan of the 1911?
I am too, but not to that extent. I own a Kahr PM9 and a Keltec P3AT as my second and third choice for concealed carry. First choice is my aluminum framed, 3 inch 1911, but at times it's a bit too large.
