Should Be 100%

According to this study, something like 47% of American homes has at least one gun.

Being the USA, shouldn't that number be a lot closer to 100%?

A couple of thoughts:

The poll would more correctly be described as "the number of Americans that admit having a gun in their home".

Which makes me wonder...is it actually gun ownership that's on the rise, or the willingness to admit it?

As gun ownership becomes less stigmatized and viewed as more mainstream; and as more and more places loosen gun restrictions, is it really the fact that gun ownership is on the rise, or are more people just coming out of the closet?

My guess is that gun ownership is much higher than that and always has been. We're not really seeing an increase in gun ownership, but rather an increase in those who don't feel the need to keep it a secret any more.
