Saturday morning, at about 2AM, we lost electricity because of storm damage. Just down the road a bunch of trees hit the ground, and wires. Which meant no nothing, but heat and sweat until Sunday night when a cold front came through. This morning I wiped off with emergency drinking water, just because I could smell myself. Wells require electricity. No juice and no water.
This has happened just too many times in the past, so today we drove to an area with juice and bought 2 generators. They only had 2 left, and the Boss said buy them. The small one is 2KW and a pull start. The larger is 8KW and battery start. If, actually when, it happens again we'll be able to power the well pump, the refrigerator, freezer, and some lights. Living without electricity sucks, and I get very stinky.

Since we couldn't do much else, we went house shopping again. I think we found the right place at the right price. Today we went through it and the positives out weigh the negatives by a huge margin.
And the generators? It also has a well.

Oh, . . . . . just as I got the first generator running to test, the power came back on.

Test the voltage also. Make sure it is steady and clean under load. In addition to damaging entertainment electronic it can also blowout the controllers on your fridge. Which as you might imagine is really annoying.
