Democratically controlled House passed another $410 billion in spending on top of the $787 billion stimulus bill that President Barack Obama signed last week.
Congress has passed $1197 billion in new spending in the last few sessions. When you add the $700 billion in TARP money for bank bailouts, the total is $1897 billion in new spending.
The same people who drove the economy into the ditch are now complaining about the size of the tow truck," said Rep. James McGovern, D-Mass., pointing out the large increase in deficits that President George W. Bush and GOP-controlled Congresses amassed.

One of the things I hate the most is someone trying to excuse bad behavior by other bad behavior. When one of my kids tried that he immediately got more extreme punishment than normal. When politicians try that, my immediate reaction is to reach for the paddle.
