Not only is it un-American and unconstitutional to restrict gun ownership in any way, it's also anti-civil rights. Typically the antis claim restriction is necessary as a crime fighting measure. That is fewer guns supposedly results in less violent crime. Yeah, well that's just wrong.
Gun restrictions have continued to be less restrictive, and the violent crime rate has decreased for years.
Illinois, one of the most restrictive states has the highest murder rate by handguns, 71%. That's interesting because Chicago has a complete ban on handguns.
