Back in late 1975 the Boss and our 2 very young boys moved from our home area to Indianapolis. We had very little choice because I'd been out of work for 8 months. I don't know how far back it goes, but even then any state citizen could easily get a license to carry a concealed gun. There was no requirement for training. Also a citizen could buy a handgun without so much as a background check. The People trusted the government and the government trusted the people.
Surprise! The crime rate then wasn't much different than now. Go figure.
And now a couple Indiana counties will be issuing licenses to carry concealed after on-line applications, though they must be picked up in person. Because there are backgound checks and etc, this is actually more restrictive than when I lived there. But naturally, there's those that are wringing their hands in anguish.
As far as I'm concerned, scoring 38th by the Brady Bunch, makes Indiana one of the best states to live in.
