Fire All of Them

Can 7 Little Sparks

start a revolution like the 1 big spark that started this nation? I certainly hope to never find out.

We fully expect to see legislation and amendments advance in the coming months that would:

•Release the medical records of all gun owners — including confidential mental health records — to the Attorney General for Government review.
•Require all Americans to pass a written examination to purchase a firearm.
•Require a two-day waiting period on all firearms purchases.
•Institute a tax of $25 or more on the purchase of each individual firearm.
•Create a national database with all firearms and firearms owners registered by serial number and social security number with the Federal Government.
•Institute a Federal ban on all private firearms sales, not just private sales at gun shows
•Increase penalties for clerical errors related to this national firearms registry.

Taken individually, they look like the standard legislation to restrict our rights. And though these are onerous, it’s only when you take a step backward that you see the forest instead of just a few trees.

That's Nice

I found out today that my insurance covers 100% of in hospital costs for my coming surgery, and then post-op office visits and therapy have a $20 co-pay with no limit on the number of visits. Sweet.

I'll still get the total cost, but not until after it's all over.

41 Mag

The August issue of Shooting Times has an article about the 41 Mag handgun cartridge. If you've never heard of this very fine cartridge you're not alone. Unfortunately Dirty Harry carried the 44 Mag, and not the superior, in my estimation, 41 Mag.

I've never been fond of single action revolvers, but the Ruger is the only presently manufactured revolver that comes close to fitting my hand. Consequently I do not own a 41. My brother-in-law owns a couple, but not me.

The 41 Mag has less recoil and nearly the same, if not equal, energy as the 44. The report is less ear splitting than the 357 Mag and is ballistically superior to the 44 from a hunting standpoint. What's not to like?

For those that don't know;
357 Mag - 0.357" Dia
41 Mag - 0.410" Dia
44 Mag - 0.430" Dia

11 to 1

So Blogo was found guilty of being less than truthful with the FBI. Hell yes, anyone with an ounce of sense knows politicians lie, especially big city politicians.

For all else it was 11 to 1 to convict. Seems one was so used to corruption that it has become normal.

What's the Difference

The "too big to fail" auto maker sucked tons of money from the Fed. That's money legally stolen from you and me. Now they say they're paying this money back. They're no longer losing money as a business. But this is after bankruptcy proceedings.

What would have happened without the Fed giving them money, and buying part of the business? Wouldn't it have been bankruptcy? Wouldn't the outcome have been identical, except that now it's partly government owned and controlled?

Sorry but not too big to fail at all, just ripe for government take over. Communism?

Bar Joke

Via e-mail

A guy goes into a bar, there's a robot bartender.

The robot says, "What will you have?"

The guy says, "Martini."

The robot brings back the best martini ever and says to the man,

"What's your IQ?" The guy says, "168."

The robot then proceeds to talk about physics, space exploration and
medical technology

The guy leaves, but he is curious...
So he goes back into the bar.

The robot bartender says, "What will you have?"

The guy says, "Martini."

Again, the robot makes a great martini gives
it to the man and says,

"What's your IQ?" The guy says, "100."

The robot then starts to talk about Nascar,
Budweiser and John Deere tractors.

The guy leaves, but finds it very interesting,
so he thinks he will try it one more time..

He goes back into the bar. The robot says,
"What will you have?"

The guy says, "Martini," and the robot brings
him another great martini.

The robot then says, "What's your IQ?"

The guy says, "Uh, about 50.."
The robot leans in real close and says,

"So, you people still happy you voted for
Obama?"

Obama - Anti-American

Unless you've been living in a cave somewhere, you've heard that the US has at least partially agreed to the UN small arms treaty. A treaty that has the potential to legally disarm all US citizens if ratified. Combine that with the public Obama statement about continuing accomplishments after the October elections (when the Dems are likely to take a beating) which has a good chance of being a lame-duck congress, and liberty lovers have cause for concern.

If a congressman has already lost the election, there's nothing to keep him from voting as he damn well pleases.

I received this via e-mail.

While you were watching the oil spill, the New York failed terrorist bombing and other critical crises, Hillary Clinton signed the small arms treaty with the UN.
OBAMA FINDS LEGAL WAY AROUND THE 2ND AMENDMENT AND USES IT.
IF THIS PASSES, THERE COULD BE WAR
On Wednesday Obama Took the First Major Step in a Plan to Ban All Firearms in the United States
On Wednesday the Obama administration took its first major step in a plan to ban all firearms in the United States. The Obama administration intends to force gun control and a complete ban on all weapons for US citizens through the signing of international treaties with foreign nations. By signing international treaties on gun control, the Obama administration can use the US State Department to bypass the normal legislative process in Congress. Once the US Government signs these international treaties, all US citizens will be subject to those gun laws created by foreign governments. These are laws that have been developed and promoted by organizations such as the United Nations and individuals such as George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. The laws are designed and intended to lead to the complete ban and confiscation of all firearms. The Obama administration is attempting to use tactics and methods of gun control that will inflict major damage to our 2nd
Amendment before US citizens even understand what has happened.

Obama can appear before the public and tell us that he does not intend to pursue any legislation (in the United States) that will lead to new gun control laws, while cloaked in secrecy, his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton is committing the US to international treaties and foreign gun control laws. Does that mean Obama is telling the truth? What it means is that there will be no publicized gun control debates in the media or votes in Congress. We will wake up one morning and find that the United States has signed a treaty that prohibits firearm and ammunition manufacturers from selling to the public. We will wake up another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that prohibits any transfer of firearm ownership. And then, we will wake up yet another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that requires US citizens to deliver any firearm they own to the local government collection and destruction center or face imprisonment.
This has happened in other countries, past and present!
THIS IS NOT A JOKE OR A FALSE WARNING.
As sure as government health care will be forced on us by the Obama administration through whatever means necessary, so will gun control. Read the Article U.S. reverses stance on treaty to regulate arms trade WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States reversed policy on Wednesday and said it would back launching talks on a treaty to regulate arms sales as long as the talks operated by consensus, a stance critics said gave every nation a veto. The decision, announced in a statement released by the U.S. State Department, overturns the position of former President George W. Bush's administration, which had opposed such a treaty on the grounds that national controls were better. View The Full Article Here

As those of the evil party are apt to say "never let a catastrophe go to waste".

If that doesn't convince you that Obama is VERY anti-liberty, maybe this and this will.

Not only is Obama anti-liberty he and the evil party leaders have managed to prolong the recession, take over health care, control the banking industry, and a large US manufacturing corporation. Some call him a socialist, but not me anymore. This looks a lot like communism.

PS: He's also filed suit against Arizona and threatening the same against an Arizona sheriff for having the balls to do what the Fed has refused to do for at least a decade.

Cross Draw ??

The only time I've ever carried in anything resembling a cross draw holster is when deer hunting, and then it's a bandoleer holster. My carry guns are always on my strong side. The Kimber UltraCArry or Kahr PM9 are either OWB or IWB (most of the time) and the little Keltec 380 goes in my pocket.

Now that I'm walking with a cane using my left hand, having a gun on my right (strong) side remains a non-issue. The problem will be after surgery when I'm well enough to hobble around, but not yet healed enough to tolerate a gun on the same hip that's been repaired.

Does anybody have experience with cross draw holsters?

Morning Surprise

Last spring the Boss hired some guys to cut down a tree that was mostly dead, and had been dropping branches on part of the drive way. She and the adopted grandson hauled and stacked most if the wood early in the summer. I then moved some of the heavier stuff, but paid dearly in hip pain. Higher priority activities, or extreme heat kept me from renting a vertical log splitter to finish the job, and now my hip is such that it was to wait until winter, after surgery.
After getting out of the shower this morning I noticed a white truck parked out back, and thought it was probably owned by someone visiting the father-in-law. Just as I finished getting dressed I heard the 3 year old grandson in the house. I found him and the daughter-in-law in the kitchen, and she was wearing work gloves.
Looking outside I saw 2 more vehicles, one for each son. My daughter-in-law borrowed her fathers truck and log splitter, and both my sons joined her to work on that pile of wood. The large pieces are all that's left. They're much too large to load up onto the splitter.
They weren't asked, they just came and did it. That's what family is all about.

Controlling the Frenzy

The Boss has barely been able to keep her spending frenzy in check. She wants a new car and new furniture for the entire house. So far very little $ has left our accounts.

If crazy spending is good for the economy and acceptable by government standards, all should be well if we do the same. Right? Right?

Bug Bitten

The Boss recently admitted to having an Ebay addiction. Thankfully it's not nearly as expensive as my addiction to things that launch projectiles. She's bitten by the feared scrap booking bug.

Bull Dog 44

A while back I came into the possession of a Ruger Super Blackhawk in 44 Mag. Since I had all the reloading gear I then purchased a 44 Special to go with it. If you have a Mag, then you are required to have a Special. Right? Well, that's my story anyway. I no longer have the Mag, but still have the little Bull Dog.

The Bull Dog is light weight and has very thin rubber grips. This combination makes it good for carry, but a bit nasty to shoot. With anything but light loads, it's actually painful, and I'm not a recoil wimp by any stretch.

My Max loads for reasonable comfort are 210gr @ 810f/s and 240gr @ 677f/s. Yeah, rather slow, but it's better than getting hit in the hand with a roofing hammer.

Consumer Separation

When we buy most anything in the way of goods, we know the price up front. We then decide what that particular good is worth to us, and decide whether to buy it. When we require services like auto repair or furnace repair we know (if asked) what the hourly rate is and can make an estimate as to the cost before the service is performed. But why not with medical services?

Most people have no idea what a doctor visit or prescription drugs actually cost. They pay their deductible and go on about their business. When the consumer is separated from the cost of good or services, the idea of value and competition dies, and actual costs increase.

Yesterday I called the surgeons office and asked for a cost estimate. After a short time of surprised silence I was asked to hold. Apparently very few people ask what it costs. I was eventually told they will bill my insurance $4,000.

I told the lady that I was going to call the hospital and ask the same question, and she chuckled, "good luck with that". I probably won't get an answer because of variables, I'm told. All I want is an estimate for planning purposes from a place where hip replacement surgery is a routine activity. Will I get an answer? I doubt it. I can smell a song and dance routine coming.

Recovery Bogging Down

I read in the local rag that many economists now fear that the recovery is bogging down. They point to the recently stagnant 9.5% unemployment and that created jobs are typically low paying.

As for low paying, that's not surprising when the supply is much larger than the demand.

And then I'd like to know how they define "recovery"? To me recovery is when unemployment drops (actual unemployment), pay rates increase, and more jobs become available than the rate of population increase. As far as I can tell we've never come close to starting a recovery. Apparently I'm wrong about that.

Not Alone

It's nice to know I'm not alone in my utter distrust, and even loathing of the federal government.

Yesterday, while stopped at a traffic light a SUV pulled up next to me instead of continuing on to the wide painted line on the road. Curious, I looked over and saw the driver looking at me and clapping his hands, then he pointed towards the back of my truck where a small sign says FIRE THE FED GOV'T.

Good Drugs

For weeks I haven't been able to sleep through the night because my hip pain would wake me. So once or twice every night I had to get up and walk around a little to ease the pain, then go back to bed. The bone cutter wrote me a script for vicodin, so I take 1 pill before going to bed, and so far I can now sleep through the night with only 1 wake up. And even then I can roll over and go back to sleep. Some drugs are a good thing.

Even though I'm a contractor (temporary) it appears as if my position will be waiting on me after the surgery. I was told it's OK to use a cane now and when I return, and if I need crutches, my office area will be relocated to the ground floor. No crutches on the stairs. Since I'm " temporary" they could've just replaced me with somebody else.

Now That's Ugly

Those were the first words from the surgeon when he looked at my hip x-ray. The only options are to live with the bone on bone pain or get a total hip replacement. So I'm being scheduled to be cut the last Monday of September with an estimated 3-6 weeks of down time afterward.

I would've scheduled it sooner, but I'd miss the annual Hell Survivors paintball trip to Michigan. Even if I can't play, I'm not missing the trip.

As I type this I have a metal sample wrapped on each arm to test for possible allergic reactions. I'm to keep them on for about a week. It's better to find out before a metal spike is driven into the top of my leg bone, than after.

---------------

The surgeon told us about a woman from the UK that was in with a hip complaint. When told she could get it done on a couple weeks if she wanted she was very surprised. Apparently in the UK you have to wait until you're 70, then get in line. That's pretty shitty as far as I'm concerned. I'd have to live in pain and on drugs for anothrt 10+ years.

And that's the kind of health care the evil people want here. BS!!
