Jealous

My co-worker is now working a 32 hour work week.  Admittedly he's 74 years old and entitled to do what ever he wants, but I'm still jealous. I'm 66 and would love to have 3 day weekends like he does.  Maybe next year.

The Boss and my granddaughter went trail riding this afternoon while I was at work.  I'm jealous of that also.

Tiring

Today at work we were invaded by Koreans, South Koreans.  They came to install a new machine, imported from their home country.  It'll take about a month.  I find it tiring to stand around and watch others work.

Why import a machine?  Because none are made domestically.  About $2.5 million exported.

The Day Off

Took a vacation day today because the Boss went out of state for a funeral, and the Vet was due to do some dental work on the horses.  Did you know that horses have canine teeth?  I sure didn't.  They're more pronounced in males, and females have just little nubbins.  That surprised me since they are grazing animals.

I also learned that horses develop sharp edges and sometimes side growing spikes on their teeth.  Apparently this happens on wild as well as domestic animals.  The Vet said that some wild horses die from this because they can't eat properly.

After the Vet left and I grabbed some lunch, I took my mare for a short ride.  This year she's had issues with going across an open field in the park, so our ride was only along and through that open field.  She behaves much better without pointy teeth jabbing her cheek from the inside.

I also tried using spurs for the first time.  My spurs are quite gentle with just a ball on the end of a shank. This year when I turned her head, trying to turn her, she would continue going straight.  Now when she does that, a gentle poke in the ribs with the spur takes care of the issue.

Couple of Thoughts

So last week the 'red line' was crossed, again, and this time our president had the balls to back up his words.  Then I hear the previous administration knew they still had chemical weapons. Not surprised about that, if true.

I applaud the strike, but I wonder about how effective it really was.  Didn't look to me like there was very much damage done for so many missiles.  Then I hear that the air base is back in operation.  So how much does a cruise missile cost anyway?

 . . . . . . . . . .

The Boss bought a Little Buddy saddle the other day.  It's made for kids to sit behind an adult. She thinks our grandson likes horses enough to sit behind her for a short ride.  He did like sitting on my mare while I lead her around with a rope.  She could be right.  Then again wives are always right, even when they're wrong.

A First

For the first time ever I rode a horse across the harvested bean field at a comfortable walk, both ways.  In the 2 years that we've had horses, I'm now on number 3, while the Boss has had just the one.  I bought my mare last July, and summer through fall she was a delight on the trail, except when in heat.

This year she has been testing me a little, so the owner of the stable gave her 1/2 CC of a drug called Ace.  Just enough to take the edge off of her.  Today she actually walked up the road without wandering from side to side checking for danger.  We went down the road, across the big empty field, crossed 2 roads, down tight and very muddy trails, and then back again.  A nice and enjoyable ride.  The Boss's horse was very sweaty.  Mine not so much, but she was tired.  Heading to the barn I tried to get her to speed up, but she just wasn't interested in going any faster.

The stable owner said he had to drug his horse 2 or 3 times, then everything was good.  I don't like the idea if drugging any animal, but I need to go riding with the Boss.  Trail riding is therapy for her back, . . . . and spirit.  Besides I also like a nice comfortable, relaxing trail ride.
