UAC

The Boss has asked me to review the United American Committee website. She's thinking about joining the organization'

The UAC is cognizant of the Islamic mindset of our enemies, and of the political and social goals of such mindset and ideology, and of the historic Islamic roots of that ideology and its mission to undermine, overturn, and replace the Constitution of the United States of America with the fascist, oppressive, and brutal Islamic law known as Sharia.

Seems like a responsible thing to do to me.

We already oppose the political and social goals . . . of that ideology and its mission to undermine, overturn, and replace the Constitution of the United States of America. That ideology is known as Radical Democrats, socialists, communists and Marxists.

Why is it that we're always having to fight, in one way or another, to maintain our civil and personal liberties? And why is it that some of us just don't care?

Government Control is a Bad Thing

Government run anything is a bad thing, regardless of what the Dems tell you. Just ask the Brits, Canadians or more recently the Germans. Then again you could ask the sailor about his personal experiences.

Obama - The Truth

"I lobbied Barack Obama extensively while he was an Illinois State Senator. As a result of that experience, I know Obama's attitudes toward guns and gun owners better than anyone. The truth be told, in all my years in the Capitol I have never met a legislator who harbors more contempt for the law-abiding firearm owner than does Barack Obama."

"While a state senator, Obama voted for a bill that would ban nearly every hunting rifle, shotgun and target rifle owned by Illinois citizens. That same bill would authorize the state police to raid homes of gun owners to forcibly confiscate banned guns."

And the Dems claim he's not a Marxist either.

2A & Self-Defense

When did self defense become morally wrong?

The message for which those of us in the pro-Second Amendment camp are vilified is no more complicated than this: Each of us has a right not to be hurt by someone else, and if someone tries to hurt us, we have a right to protect ourselves.

Still, there are those among us who would decry this right as being the product of a different era, as being outdated, irrelevant, and an actual detriment to life, liberty and happiness in our modern era of enlightenment.

To these people I would ask: what about human nature has changed?

Because, ultimately, what this right guarantees you is not a gun, but a choice. A choice, in the final analysis, to submit to evil or to fight it, literally.

I made my choice years ago. Fight the scumbags. By attacking me or mine, they've also made a choice, . . . to die.

Marxist

So some media woman asked Biden whether 'spreading the wealth' is Marxist. Biden handled it like a true politician/used car salesman by asking if she was serious, by asking a legitimate question. The result is that the Democrats have now black balled that media company. Can't have anyone asking legitimate, but embarassing questions now can we?

Oh, and the answer is a definite yes. Marxist, communist, socialist, some if not all of each.

Incremental

A lot of us liberty minded use the term 'slippery slope' meaning that one step, poorly taken, could easily lead to a monumental fall on the ass. A better term just might be incremental, because that's just what I've witnessed in my life.

Incremental actions pass unnoticed. Each step is a minor inconvenience in itself. Each step moves the bar forward. Each step elicits moans, but no real resistance. If the Righteous had tried a total ban on smoking or special queues for booze in the 1980’s, there would have been outrage and very possibly riots. How could we deny them that one non-smoking carriage on the train? It was only fair. When did it become a no-smoking train with only one smoking carriage? Does anyone remember the steps that led from one to the other? It was one step more, one increment, to remove that last smoking carriage. Imagine what the reaction would have been if they had done that in one move.

As Kim says We’re talking about how our freedoms, our liberties and our enjoyment of life are all being curtailed bit by bit, step by step, by people who know (or think they know) how we should best live our own lives.

We're talking about 'liberals', 'progressives', . . . Demorats.

The Europeans who love Obama so much have never lived a lofe of liberty like we have. I can excuse them because of their profound ignorance. I see no excuse for those here.

Character

A while back I saw a movie about a US President that was purely fiction. Though I disagree with this fictitious president's general philosophy, there was one thing he said in the show that is the absolute truth. It was something like 'being President is all about character'.

The candidate: One, has a profound belief that the Constitution is the supreme law of this nation, two, displays honesty that withstands scrutiny and three, accepts our American culture.

Obama opposes free speech and gun ownership; he wants a cop-on-the-corner program with the cops answering to him.

Obama has been a supporter of the Chicago and similar Washington, D.C., gun control laws. The Supreme Court found the ban unconstitutional.

In a July 2 speech in Colorado Springs, Obama said, "We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded." The "national security force" Obama wants will be 3 million people answerable to him.

He has been far from forthcoming regarding his relationship with William Ayers and others who are well-documented.

Obama often referred to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright as a "friend ... mentor" who inspired him.

In his TV spots regarding John McCain and Sarah Palin and their positions on abortion and stem cell research, Obama states they oppose stem cell research and would prohibit abortions "even in cases of rape and incest." Fact: They oppose embryonic stem cell research but support adult stem cell research. Neither has ever by word or deed said they oppose abortion "even in the case of rape or incest." Obama is lying.

We know 35 percent of wage earners do not pay income tax. How can Obama be viewed as truthful when he promises a tax cut to 90 percent of the wage earners when only 65 percent pay taxes?

The purpose of taxes is to pay for essential government services, accepting that some waste and foolishness will occur. Is bailing out bankers who made bad loans or those who took them your responsibility? . . . Obama wants to expand free meals in school. Why should you pay to feed my neighbors' kids breakfast and lunch? How is that fair?

Why should the American people trust our freedom to a man who has shown his opposition to the Constitutional safeguards that protect us, a man who is proven to have as his closest advisers felons and a radical bomber whose stated goal is to overturn our government? Is a man whose own words to "Joe the plumber" explained his belief that we should take the money from the "haves" and give it to those who have less, the man we want in charge of the IRS?

Yes, . . . . it's all about character. And that man's character is among the lowest. God help us if he's elected.

If I Lose, You Must've Cheated

Some worry that if Barack Obama loses and there is suspicion of foul play in the election, violence could ensue in cities with large black populations.

Absolutely no doubt in my mind. If Obama loses, the Dems will certainly cry foul play because that's what they do. They have no concept of accepting reality. The strange thing is, there's indications of rigging the election right now. Only it's in favor of the Dems.

I doubt the Reps will raise such a stink if Obama wins. They tend to be more like adults and less like children.

Obama in 2008. Revolution by 2010 ?

Democracy: Three wolves and a sheep sitting down to vote on what, or who, to have for dinner.
The Democratic party was started to push this ideal.

Republic: Three wolves, a sheep and three million sheepdogs voting on whether the wolves have overstayed their welcome.
And this is what the Republican party first stood for.
Three million sheepdogs? Us liberty minded gun owners.

Sorry, but "progressives," or your old moniker "liberals," are still collectivists.
Usually Democrats.

The fascists, Nazis, and communists, collectivists all, at least had guns to force their will on the rest of the disarmed population. What do you have?Hot air and bluster.

But we're armed and willing.

Duelling ARs

This is the custom built AR I acquired this summer.

This is one I just found on this blog.

That just has to be the ugliest gun I've ever seen.

I think my eyes just fell out.

Maybe There's Still Hope For us All

There are some that think the polls are all wrong and that Obama will fall on his socialist ass. Here's one, and then this shows that state polls are much closer than previously announced. I'm not a big fan of the liberal McCain, but he sure beats hell out of having a socialist as president. WE absolutely need someone in the big house that'll help stop the bleeding sure to come from a liberal controlled congress.

Idiots

If anyone believed Obama's recent 2A stance despite his life long record, they're idiots. Yeah, that so-called hunter on the TV ads is an idiot. And if anyone still believes him after this, they're twice the idiot.

Brady Backs Barack

Oh, and if that isn't being anti-American, this certainly is.

If you're an American gun owner. . . you’ll be pleased to know that an appellate judge — one of the Obama philosophical bent that will be seeded throughout the federal courts if the Senator is elected president two weeks from now — thinks you are every bit as dangerous as those trained terrorists.

Just because you believe in the Constitution and believe in self-sufficiency.

If Obama gets elected, that'll be proof that the America I love has died.

New National Symbol

A reader sent this. I like it, I do.

Self-Reliance

Our nation should promote individual strong will and self-reliance. We should not solely rely upon our government to defend us. And if need be, we must defend ourselves from our government. Increased governmental control inevitably leads to fascism. Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin understood the utility and benefits of gun control. So do modern Communist dictators.

And so do the liberals running the Demorat party.

Crime Rate is Down Again

Not only is it un-American and unconstitutional to restrict gun ownership in any way, it's also anti-civil rights. Typically the antis claim restriction is necessary as a crime fighting measure. That is fewer guns supposedly results in less violent crime. Yeah, well that's just wrong.

Gun restrictions have continued to be less restrictive, and the violent crime rate has decreased for years.

Illinois, one of the most restrictive states has the highest murder rate by handguns, 71%. That's interesting because Chicago has a complete ban on handguns.

Get'm While You Can

While sitting here with the Boss'a laptop and my gouty foot elevated, the brother-in-law called. He was wondering what lower receiver I had on my AR. He's seen the writing on the wall. If you want one, get it now before the prices go any higher. Or before the Dems outlaw them entirely.

I see it coming. Anti-freedom freaks controlling all branches of the Fed government. It'll happen, legally or not. (See my post below)

Obama Communism

This is Mrs. Ly Chho, born of Chinese parents in Cambodia, raised and schooled in Taiwan, naturalized American citizen for fourteen years, . . .

I have been a citizen for only fourteen years. I believe in the Constitution and the Second Amendment, and when I see Obama, I see Communism, and I am afraid.
From The Smallest Minority

So do I, and so am I, only probably not as much as you. I'm older. I'm armed. And I'm not afraid to die.

The biggest question is why do so very many not see the same. Or do they?

Treason

In the gangster days of Chicago and the beginnings of labor unions (redundancy) history claims there were a lot of illegal activity concerning ballot boxes. And voting multiple times wasn't exactly rare. Now it appears those days are back.

Folks, excuse me, but WTF is our chief election officer (Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner) doing issuing directives or uttering one word in any forum that leads to poll observers being barred, versus being allowed? That, in itself, is clearly treasonous and impeachable.

It will, of course, come as no surprise to you that the overwhelming majority of voters who took advantage of this small window of opportunity were ACORN plants.

Do you suppose it's a coincidence that ACORN is linked to the Democrat party, and the Brunner is a Democrat? Makes me wonder why we bother going to the polls.

And other states are experiencing shady acts as well.

Do these numbers add up to you?
In light of those numbers and in consideration of the recent stories of voter fraud rampant throughout the US in general, and some stories specific to Virginia in particular, I'm inclined to throw the BS flag. Something simply does not add up here. Am I wrong? Someone please explain to me where my reasoning is faulty and calm my fears.

As far as I'm concerned, this is just more mounting evidence that the fix is in. The leftists in this country are still pissed that they failed in stealing the elections from GWB in 2000 and 2004 and they are damn determined to get it done this time.

Gun Loving German??

Tonight I took 2 coworkers and a young man from our sister company in Germany to the local indoor range. Let's just call him Joe. Now Joe has never touched a gun, any kind of gun in his life. After some basic instruction by the range officer and later some additional instruction by this author he did quite well. In fact I've seen more experienced shooters with worse markemanship. We started him with .22 revolver and pistol, the Walther .32, HiPower 9mm. 1911 .45acp and finally a Colt Python .357Mag.

He didn't like the recoil from the .357, and felt the 1911 was slightly more than he liked and didn't fit his hand quite right. He really enjoyed the HiPower, and hated to put it down. Can't say I blame him on that one. He kept his targets to bring home. He's proud of them.

He'll be around for another month and showed interest in joining me for some outdoor rifle action.

Chalk up a new shooter, even if he is from another country.

Is it possible to Americanize a German?

Seems Like it's Working

The number of justifiable homicides committed by police and private citizens has been rising in the past two years to their highest levels in more than a decade, reflecting a shoot-first philosophy in dealing with crime, say law enforcement analysts.

The 391 killings by police that were ruled justifiable in 2007 were the most since 1994, FBI statistics show. The 254 killings by private individuals found to be self-defense were the most since 1997.

Some law enforcement analysts say the numbers represent changing attitudes on the streets, where police have felt more threatened by well-armed offenders, and citizens have taken greater responsibility for their own safety.

Florida State University criminologist Gary Kleck says the FBI underestimates self-defense killings by citizens because the ones that are not precipitated by felony crimes may not get counted. "Less than a third of (citizen killings) are reported," he says.

Maybe the scumbags will eventually learn the we're finally turning back into a nation of people that accepts the responsibility of their own safety. Besides, the more we reduce their population, the less oxygen is being wasted.

I Don't Believe a Word of it

Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland is the only Dem. I've voted for in memory. That's because the vast majority of Dems. are decidedly anti-liberty, anti-gun types. He actually helped push for the concealed carry law here in the Buckeye state. I haven't regretted that vote, but now he's dropped a few notches in my eyes.

Strickland, the NRA "A"-rated governor who is also a former Buckeye Firearms Association endorsee, told the press that "as a result of direct conversations that I've had with Barack Obama, if you are a sportsman, if you are a gun owner, if you are someone that honors and respects the Second Amendment - you have nothing to fear from Barack Obama and I want you to spread the word throughout this great part of our great state."

I never thought he'd bow to the party line like that. And if he didn't, then his judgement is very flawed.

To Be Expected . . . . . . In Europe

I see that Europe is now leading the way in getting into the banking business. I suppose that's to be expected, but I was surprised to see it happening here.

Why is it that the socialist (liberal/Democratic) solution to every problem, real or imaginary, is to spend more of my money? Haven't they learned from history that leads to more, and usually tougher problems?

Range Time Coming Wednasday

Tonight I stopped by the local indoor range and made arrangements for 5 shooting lanes for this coming Wednesday after work. 4 co-workers and maybe 2 more will be joining me for some fun shooting handguns. I'm by far the most experienced with a young man from germany never touching a gun in his life. Unless the range officer gives the German special attention, I won't be shooting. I'll be instructing.

The Land of OZ

I think I've officially landed on OZ.

One of, if not the most liberal, big government, socialist/communist is leading the race for President of The Land of The Free. I know. I know. McCain isn't exactly a beacon of conservatism and small government, but the difference is astounding. There's no way this can possibly be happening here in the USA.

And as confirmation, I saw gas for $2.95 a gallon.

There's no doubt I'm in OZ.

Now That's How to Run a Company

Sturm, Ruger said it repurchased the shares for an average price of $6.50 with cash on hand. At the end of the July-September period, the company said 19.5 million shares were outstanding, and that it had about $22 million in cash and no debt on its balance sheet.

Free Market ? Not Likely

He's absolutely right. If the USA ever had or operated as a free market, I've never seen it in my lifetime. At leats not in general terms.

In a free market, businesses whose stewards make stupid mistakes are allowed to fail. In a free market, the government does not intervene in capital markets to artificially expand the class of "qualified" borrowers because it believes itself to be the omniscient arranger of "fair" outcomes. In a free market, the government does not manipulate money policy to the advantage of one class over another.

In a free market, the government does not regulate some businesses out of existence and give other businesses taxpayer dollars, thereby forcing all businesses into the corrupt practice of lobbying out of simple self-defense.

Assuming Obama wins the election.

Now that they will be swept, hopefully along with the entire "Grand Old Party," into the dustbin of history, the collectivist Chaits are going to come against, for the first time in a long time, the true conservatives, the true believers in free people and free markets.

In the land they create where the Constitution and the rule of law are overwhelmed by "democratic majority rule," political power, to quote one of their revered elder collectivist statesmen, "comes out of the barrel of a gun."

Let's hope they don't push too hard because We're the ones with the firearms. And we're also not afraid to use them.

Exception to the Rule ?

For years I've claimed that the left, in general and anti-gunnies in particular, were totally lacking in logical thinking. This article is an exception to the rule. There's signs of logic in there, but it's still flawed.

He says of the 2A. This same rule doesn't apply to every person as many claim it to be. According to the Constitution, guns are to be used to protect the citizens from danger, and that the people in charge of protecting us oversee the "militia" and make sure no one is infringing on others' rights by misusing the weapons they were given.

guns are to be used to protect the citizens from danger - Yes danger from animals, and criminals, but especially and most importantly from the danger of government. Maybe this author has forgotten history.

and that the people in charge of protecting us oversee the "militia" - Now that obviously is like trusting the fox to guard the henhouse. And it's also the thought process of the collectivist or communist.

Now this is the thought of someone completely out of touch with reality.

Guess I must retract my earlier statement. Just another loon.

First Revolver

My first handgun was a JP Sauer & Son model 38H, 32acp. (Posted earlier under 'guns') I took it in trade for an old beat up pool table that my father gave me. My first handgun purchase was a Ruger Security Six 357Mag with a 6" barrel. It was stolen out of my car while parked at Clearwater Beach, Florida. I then purchased a Colt Trooper 357Mag that I later sold, and then bought another Ruger. I just never got used to that Colt revolver.

I still have that Ruger Security Six 357Mag with the 6" barrel. I fired thousands of rounds through that gun and basically wore it out. I took several deer with it, and some more since it was fixed. By wear out, I mean that something in the action, buried in the frame, broke and locked it up. I sent it to Ruger for an estimate to fix it only to have it returned ready to rock and roll at no cost other than shipping. I think that was about 15 years ago.

With fading eye sight, and since I like to shoot it 50+ yards, it now wears a red dot sight. In my later years I find that I just couldn't see the sights and a deer at the same time. The last deer taken with it measured 120 yards away, according to my laser rangefinder.

Any so-called "expert" that considers the old 357Mag as too light for hunting deer should be ignored. I use 157 grain hollow points that are very deadly for hunting deer. At about 20 yards it'll penetrate from shoulder to ass, and also cleanly down a whitetail broadside at 120 yards. My only complaint is the high pitched bark that's hard on the ears. Baffle type ear plugs or electronic stereo muffs work fine to tame the noise in the deer woods.

Update - New Pack Member

Being a bit burned out on politics, and my bummer of a foot keeping me away from the range I'll give you an update on the new pack member. Yesterday there was a fight about Ginger getting too close to Ambers food dish. That's the second time that's happened. No great damage done to either animal.

As it turns out the woman at the animal shelter was probably wrong about Gingers age. The vet estimates her to be no more than 2 years old. She's very nervous most of the time in her new surroundings but affectionate. And getting scolded, or threatened whenever she gets close to to what Amber considers hers alone doesn't help. She only weighs 30 pounds (Amber 52 pounds) so it was suggested we feed her puppy food. The vet says she needs to add 10-15 pounds.

This morning the Boss gave Ginger a stuffed animal dog toy. Since then she rarely leaves her crate. I let her out to pee and coaxed her out with a piece of bologna, but she appears to be content or maybe obsessed with keeping the toy in the crate with her. When Amber was outside I took the toy upstairs and placed it in the family room. Ginger followed me up, then took it right back to the crate. I wonder if she's guarding it from big bully Amber.

Ginger's only been here 3 days and Amber has lived here for years as the only dog. So far Amber is winning the dominant war and I suspect that will continue. I also think we'll have growling and the occasional scuffle for a while until they work out the boundaries. So for now, Ginger is guarding her toy in the crate. The door is left open all day and she has the run of the house when we're home and awake.

I wanted to get a picture of her standing, but she wouldn't leave her toy and the crate. Maybe another time.

The Boss likes Siberian huskies that are not typical. Amber is cream and light brown with light brown eyes and slightly shorter than normal. Ginger is slightly taller then normal and colored red-brown and white with the typical blue eyes, but she also has a tail that's curled over her back like the Malamute.

Great Essay

One of the best examples of logical reasoning I've ever read. Go and enjoy.

Oh, and here's a teaser.

It is normal human behavior to protect one’s life and home. Even animals have natural instincts to prolong life and defend their territory to increase the longevity and survival of their kind. Why are we threatened with losing this right and told we no longer need it in this day and age. Now, more than ever, we need them. It is unjust that law abiding citizens have to obtain permits for something we are granted in the Bill of Rights, but it also provides information showing that responsible gun users are not the ones in need of changed legislation.

Rational

For those like me it's the realization that I have responsibilities, for a few it never happens until too late if at all, then others just observe and use rational thought.

The tragedy at Virginia Tech was the final straw. I was not going to be a victim anymore. My children were not going to be victims anymore.

I took my first gun safety class, and I got my first concealed carry permit.

New Pack Member

So I’m in Hell Michigan enjoying paintball despite abusing my sore gout, arthritic infested foot while the Boss takes advantage of my absence. Saturday night I’m sitting by the camp fire with an ice bag on my foot when the oldest son checks his cell phone voice mail.

He says ‘mom left a message for you to call her’. My immediate thought is ‘oh shit’, I’ve got to pack up and head home. You see her father lives with us. He’s 87 and has a pig valve in his heart, so I immediately thought the worst. Thankfully that wasn’t it at all.

Over the phone she says; ‘I just happened to stop by the animal shelter and found a sweet Siberian husky. I’ve adopted it for $75 that includes spaying.’ That wouldn’t be so bad except we have a Siberian husky that insists on being the local boss of every dog she comes in contact with. Unless there’s immediate recognition that she’s the boss dog, the fight is on. Bringing another dog into the mix just may be a bit interesting.

Last night we picked up the new husky named Ginger. Her estimated age is 3 years. Ginger is muted red and white with light blue eyes, and she’s far from husky. She looks like she’s been traveling for a while. That’s the skinniest husky I’ve ever seen. So far Amber, our 7 year old Siberian, has grudgingly accepted the newcomer. Amber is the boss and Ginger knows it. The only real problem so far has been regarding food. There’s 2 food bowls separated by about 15 feet, but with the same dog food. Amber seems to think both bowls are for her.
