Outside Today

The Boss went outside today for the first time since her spine surgery.  With the help of a walker she made 2, 200 feet circuits with a rest between.  She paid for it later with extra pain.  That's one tough lady, maybe a bit too tough.

POTUS and Cultural War

So we finally have a POTUS that apparently has the health of the country as his top priority, and makes every effort to do what he said he would do.  How refreshing is that?  I probably would not like him as a person, but as far as the above is concerned, he's the best president in my lifetime. In fact he's so good for us that the left continually attack him for any reason at all.

The cultural war has escalated over the past couple of decades.  On one side are those that hate the USA and apparently want us to sink to the lowest world wide common denominator.  On the other are those that recognize how unique and wonderful this country has been, and hopefully will continue to be.

If the left has their way we will loose our individual independence with Gov controlling everything.  The first step is to disarm the population.  And that may well convert the battle of words into a bloody war.

Back Home

She had her spine surgery Friday, then back home Sunday.  So I've been her 24hr caregiver.  She has 3 rows of staples in her back and one row in her belly, all vertical.  If she takes enough medication to kill the pain, it puts her to sleep.  Most of the time she tolerates the pain, by taking a half dose. Yesterday she had a visit from our brand new grandson.  That put a smile on her face. She's not doing too bad all things considered.

Yesterday the guys came and installed the air hockey and pool tables.  It's been decades since I played any pool.  That was obvious when I started knocking balls around.

Third of 3

Last Friday the boss endured a 4 hour surgical procedure.  They put 2 rods across 3 vertibrae on the back side and a 'cage' with 2 disc replacements on the front side of her spine. She'll be wearing a back brace when up for about 6 weeks.  The surgeon said she might be able to ride her horse again mid to lat spring.  Hope he's right.  She loves riding her horse on the trails, and it's the only activity that we do together that we both like.

I'll be her caregiver for a while.

That's her third, and I hope final, surgery in three months.

Tough on Old Farts

I'm 68 and the Boss is 65, and we've been caring for our 5 year old grandson for 2 days.  He's staying with us while mom & dad are in the hospital with the new baby.  Sure is tough on us old farts, especially since the Boss is in constant pain because of her back.  (She's having spine surgery in 6 days) Sure am glad our boys grew to be responsible men.  I don't know if we have what it takes to raise grandchildren like so many others do.

Brand New Grandson

As of today we have a brand new grandson.  Our 2 sons now have 2 sons each.  That's 4 grandsons DNA related.  In addition we have 2 grandsons, 2 granddaughters and 1 great grandson by mutual agreement.

How Dumb

My mare has a fairly long forelock. For the non-horse people that's the part of the mane the grows between the ears and the top of the forehead.  On my girl it reaches to her eyes.  She keeps getting her forelock matted with tiny little burs from somewhere in the field.  Twice I've cleaned the little buggers out while she was in a cross tie.  She absolutely hated that.  Today I left her in the stall for the procedure, and she stood quietly the whole time. Afterwards I realized why.

In the cross tie I had to work from straight in front, and so stood rather close.  Horses can't see close and directly in front, and not at all directly behind.  In the stall I was standing to the side where she can see.  How dumb of me.

Commies

“Twenty-eight percent of Democrats say Americans should be prohibited by law from belonging to pro-gun rights organizations like the NRA.”

The same poll shows 32 percent of Democrat voters support “declaring the gun rights group a terrorist organization in the community where they live.”

Unamerican, unconstitutional and communistic.

Surgery #2

The Boss had the broken tooth cut out of her jaw today by an oral surgeon.  So the second surgery is done, with spine surgery coming up in 10 days.

Rocky Mountain Red

Started doing ground work for the first time with my Rocky Mountain Horse, Red.  She was an experienced trail horse when I bought her so I didn't see any need.  Besides I've never done any of that before.  Due to the Boss having physical issues, and therefore only 3 rides this year, I figured some horse-human time would be a good thing.

A couple of days ago I took her to the round pen and had decent success at getting her to move, stop and change directions with just body language.  When stopped, she would look at me as if to ask, what now?

Gonna be cleaning stalls again tomorrow.  If not too hot for me, we'll be in the round pen again.  I'd like to develop enough of a connection that she'll be drawn to me when free.  I also want to work her some with a side pull halter with the idea of future riding without a bit in her mouth.

This is my pretty little girl.

More American Than Us

Saw on the news where some of the Hong Kong demonstrators, wanting to maintain democracy, carried american flags and signs wanting our 2A.  Seems those are more American than half of our own population.

Hell No

Saw something today where a poll shows something like 60% are in agreement with the total ban of semi-automatic weapons.  Commies!! Sure as hell hope it's totally wrong.  About half of my collection are semi-auto and half of them use so called high capacity magazines.  Government buy back? Hell no! Come and get them one bullet at a time.

The kids are grown and have families of their own. And the Boss is in total agreement with me. Heard the quote 'liberty or death'? Our first war started that way, and I'd bet this would start another.

Tables & SUB2000

Ordered a pool table and air hockey table today.  Since her father passed last winter, we have the room for both.  The desired felt color, as determined by the Boss, was not in stock with an ETA of 2 weeks.  I'm expecting delivery and setup in 3 weeks.

Been wanting a pool table for a few years now.  As a teen and through college I lived with a pool table in the basement.  Been missing it lately.

The air hockey table is her idea for the grandkids, though I suspect us old geezers will use it as well.
. . . . . . . .
The Keltec SUB2000 worked well enough that I ordered 3 more magazines for it.  An additional 17 rounder and 2 new 30 rounders.  Figured I should get them before the wackos decide to ban them again.
