Love The Smell

This promises to be a good weekend.  Saturday I'm taking my eldest grand-daughter for her first shooting experience.  And my eldest has asked if I wanted to join him at the range Sunday.

Ah . . The smell of burnt powder is a wonderful thing.

Huh ??

This evening, in the local rag, a person claims a good experience with Evilcare.  It took him a couple of tries but signed up for health coverage that saved him a couple hundred a month.  He didn't mention anything about his new plan, but it's interesting that his story is the complete opposite of what others are saying.

Regardless of what any story I hear,  I'll never like anything the big Gov forces on the individual.  That is the complete opposite of what this republic stands for.

Now We Know . . . Almost

The quote is something like . . . We have to pass the bill to learn what's in it.

Now we're beginning to learn what's in it, and how much damage it'll do to our system and to us as a people and a nation.  We're just scraping the surface.  This may be like pulling the keystone from an arch.  We'll all fall down as a society . . . . and a country.

I truly hope the voters have enough sense to give the boot to each and every evil congresscritter that voted for the freedom killer.

DC Ass Holes

This morning I took the Boss to a specialist for the second set of shots into her spine.  She's now barely able to walk because her left leg is numb.  That happened the first time, but it went away after about 30 hours.  I assume that will happen this time as well.  Those shots appear to be extremely painful.  I sure hope they give her lasting relief from the chronic pain.

I just found out that my place of employment is not reducing medical coverage at least for the next year.  The cost has increased, but only slightly.  I have a sinking feeling that is going to change, thanks to the ass holes in DC.

And the best news is that the surgical facility that stuck needles in her spine accepts what ever the insurance will pay, even though they're out of network.  I wonder how long that will last, thanks again to the ass holes in DC.

Tolerant or Just Stupid

Several years ago my youngest daughter=in-law lost her job.  She's been unemployed ever since.  Then she became pregnant, and my son lost his job.  He managed to get a part time position, but they're in danger of losing their home.

My eldest son and family have been doing fine.  They have 2 children, with him working full time and her part time.  They wanted to get into a better school system so decided to buy a different home and move.  After paying for all the inspections and being approved for the loan, he was informed that his position will be eliminated the first of the year.  If he bails from buying the new place he'll lose several thousands of dollars.  If he goes through with the deal, he may have to tap into his retirement investments to pay the loan.  I haven't heard what he's going to do.

Today I learned that an old friend is moving in with his brother and filing bankrupt.  He's run out of unemployment, and apparently failed at starting his own company.  Here's a multi talented guy who can't find work.

Every time I hear one of the assholes in DC claim that the economy is doing all right I want to shoot his sorry ass.  While they play their games, turning us into a communist country, doomed to economically implode, 'the people' are being hurt.  They're hurting my family.

I wonder how long, we as a people, are going to tolerate being turned into a second class country.

Political BS

Today the Speaker of the House visited my place of employment.  His visit was supposed to be congratulations for our growing business, but I suspect it had more to do with political buttering of the voters.  Anyway there was a tour and a short 'town hall' type of meeting.  A notice from human resources said that we were not to ask any controversial questions.  Since I wasn't interested in putting my job in jeopardy, nor hearing the same old political BS, I didn't attend.

I must say that our manufacturing floor hasn't been this clean in a while.

That's Cool

The Boss called me at work today with a message from the eldest adopted grand-daughter.  For her birthday, in a couple of weeks, she wants her grand-father to take her shooting for the first time.  How cool is that?

She also said that her step-father's gun is too heavy.  I knew he wanted one, but I didn't know he'd bought one.  I assume she wants to shoot handguns, because she mentioned the local indoor range.

I couple of years ago I started teaching her basic gun safety, so this weekend we'll do more of that.  Then we'll choose one or more guns that fit her for some dry firing.

We'll naturally start with 22lr, probably my Browning Buckmark,  and go from there.

It's been a while since I taught a young person the safe enjoyment of shooting a firerm.  Can't hardly wait.

.....................
A couple of weeks ago her step-father asked me to help him setup a new arrow rest on an older compound bow, that was mine at one time.  I shot, and still do with finger release, where he's decided to uase a mechanical release.  He's replacing the rest, and I think a new string was installed.  So we'll be starting basically from scratch.  I've done it before and he's a newbie.

That's OK.  I'll enjoy helping him.
