Grendel Again

Went to the range today to confirm I have a decent load using the 120 grain Sierra Game King. I have determined the load is more consistent than I am. Four out of 5 at 3/4" and 1-1/8" with one flyer each (the first shot). Muzzle velocity is about 2500 f/s, maybe 150 to 200 slower than my Swede shooting the same bullet. The Grendel shoots flat enough (1" high at 100yds) to hold dead on at 150 and 200yds. to hit steel plates. The smallest about 4" at 150 and 8" at 200, I think. Too much walking with my bad knee to put up paper targets or measure the plates.

I went with 5 shot groups this time. I determined that the first shot with a clean barrel hits about 1" lower than the rest. That's a lot better than my 303 Brit.

Next time I'll play games with the position of the linear compensator. That will effect the barrel harmonics and possibly group sizes. It has a heavy barrel so I'm not expecting a big change.

Also considering a scope change. Now using a 1-10X, but it might deserve a higher magnification, maybe up to 16X or 25X. I have a 4-12X laying around, but I don't think that's enough difference.
