Surgery

Sometime Friday morning I'll be transporting the Boss to the hospital for outpatient surgery. A few years ago she had the same thing done on her left hand. Total healing takes about a year.

There's a fancy name for it, that I can't remember. Where the thumb bone connects to the wrist, the surgeon is removing the bone from the wrist and the end of the thumb bone. Then a tendon is stretched and rerouted to fasten to the loose end of bone. This is being done because bone is rubbing bone causing constant pain.

So I'll be spending a 4 day weekend being a nurse.

As I said the other hand was done a few years ago, and she's also had a tumorous uterus removed. None of these surgeries is or has been life threatening, but they have made life miserable. Do you think any of this would've happened under a government run health care system? Not a chance.
