Over the last couple of decades, that I paid attention, this country has changed dramatically. On the one hand we've become increasingly big government squelching our liberty and generally making a mess of things. But on the other hand the 2A has been drinking from the spring of life.
How can our liberties be going in opposite directions at the same time?
What's up with that?

Old Looking Leather
A co-worker told me yesterday that he recently purchased a Taurus Judge for his wife to have at the house when he's away from home. In the back of my mind I was wondering if that revolver might be a little much for his spouse to handle, but I didn't say anything about that, only that it wasn't a bad choice. Apparently that's the only gun they own, at least for now.
He also mentioned the desire to purchase a brace of "old west" pistols to hang on the wall as decoration in worn looking traditional leather. We talked a little, and he favors working revolvers that use cartridge ammunition. Not a bad idea there. I was able to direct him towards some local establishments that might be able to satisfy his wants, except for the worn-looking leather gear. Anybody got ideas on that??

To Work Tomorrow
Working as a contractor I only get paid for the time I spend on the job. I have absolutely no paid time off, so unlike the other engineers at my place of employment, I don't get paid for tomorrows holiday.
The shop area in the part of the company where I work operates 24/7, 365 days a year. So tomorrow I'll be going in for part of the day, just for the money. I've had enough short pay weeks recently.

Private Range Possibility
Last night we were at the same place that we did some short range handgun shooting last week. The owner mentioned he was interested in building his very own private shooting range there. I suggested he remove some brushy plants from the sides of a dirt road and put a few truck loads of dirt at the end. Combine that with a portable table and he, sons, grandsons, and hopefully I can shoot at distances up to 150 yards. I think I'll mention the possibility to him again in a few days. It helps that he is my daughter-in-law's father, and that his late wife and the Boss became good friends.

Not only is the Fed not doing their job regards securing our borders, but that's costing each and every one of us our hard earned money. On my last pay statement, 23% of my income was stolen by local, state and federal governments. And the biggest percentage of that goes to those that won't do for themselves, I'd bet.

* Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops, but 29% are on welfare.
* 83% of warrants for murder in Phoenix are for illegal aliens.
* 86% of warrants for murder in Albuquerque are for illegal aliens.
* 75% of those on the most wanted list in Los Angeles, Phoenix and
Albuquerque are illegal aliens.
* 24.9% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals
* 40.1% of all inmates in Arizona detention centers are Mexican nationals
* 48.2% of all inmates in New Mexico detention centers are Mexican nationals
* 29% of (630,000) convicted illegal alien felons fill Arizona and
federal prisons at a cost of $1.6 BILLION annually
* 53% of all investigated burglaries reported in California, New
Mexico, Nevada, Arizona and Texas are perpetrated by illegal aliens.
* 50% of plus of all gang members in Los Angeles are illegal aliens
* 71% plus of all apprehended cars stolen in 2005 in Texas, New
Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and California were stolen by Illegal aliens
or “transport coyotes.”
* 47% of cited/stopped drivers in California have no license, no
insurance and no registration for the vehicle. Of that 47%, 92% of are
illegal aliens.
* 63 % of cited/stopped drivers in Arizona have no license, no
insurance and no registration for the vehicle. Of that 63%, 97% of are
illegal aliens
* 66% of cited/stopped drivers in New Mexico have no license, no
insurance and no registration for the vehicle. Of that 66%, 98% of are

illegal alien parents in just one year, making 380,000 babies

If I could retire, but I can't thanks to the Fed, I'd consider spending winters near our southern border hiking the areas of few residents. I'd have a 45 on my hip, my 7mm Mag slung on my back and the AR in my hands. Somebody needs to do some varmint hunting down there.

Re-Deployment
The criminals just south of the Arizona border reportedly had a big disagreement. It was something like 21 (?) that were killed by gunfire. Too bad there weren't more killed. And I bet the anti-liberty crowd will blame it all on the easy access to guns here in the US.
Then another criminal disagreement just across the river from Texas resulted in bullets striking a city government building on the north side.
And a wildlife refuge in Arizona (I think) is now partially owned by the Mexican criminals, because it's been abandoned by our Fed government. You know, the organization who's main purpose was intended to provide national security. The guys and gals who for decades continually infringe on our liberty and ignore their primary job.
Looks to me like it's time for the citizens to take up arms and head to the southern border. we are in fact being invaded, and the Fed won't do anything about it.
I'm in favor of bringing our boys back from Afghanistan and Iraq and posting them in the south. But wait, there's something illegal here in the states about deploying federal troops inside our own borders. I think I have a solution to that. Let's deploy them just south of our border.
