Not at All Surprising

And this is why I dislike entitlement programs.  Money is stolen from the working family and given, in some cases, to the undeserving.  Anything . . . anything run by government, especially the federal government, is corrupt.

Under the heading of "YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS" , this is an actual event that I personally witnessed and was a part of today.

At approximately 2:30ish PM, September 6, 2012, I entered the Kroger store on SR 28 in Goshen, Ohio to pick up a few items. I
gathered my items and went to the 10 and under register to check-out.

The person in front of me (white female, approximate age 35-43, fake nails, big braided hair do, clean clothes, carrying a purse and a plastic drinking cup) put her purchase on the check out surface - ONE GRAPE. Yes, that is correct ONE GRAPE. The cashier asked if that was all, she replied yes. The cashier then weighted the GRAPE and told the women the cost was $.02 (TWO CENTS), the women then pulled out her EBT card (credit card for food stamps) and swiped it through the credit card machine, requesting $24.00 in cash back. The cashier asked if she wanted the GRAPE, the woman replied no and the GRAPE was put in the garbage can. The register recorded the sale as .02, cash back $24.00, credit .02, total $24.00 cash back. The cashier then asked if two fives would be okay because was out of tens, the woman agreed and took the $24.00 folded it up and put it in her pocket and left the store.

As the next person in line I asked the cashier "as a tax payer what in the hell just happened here?" She said she was on the
Clock and could not comment. I then asked if I had actually seen this person purchase and discard a GRAPE, then get cash back on her EBT card. The cashier responded that it happens all day every day in their store. She also said that if the person buying the GRAPE has it ring up over .02 they get mad and make her reweigh it. My next comment was to ask the cashier if she planned to vote in November and she said she could hardly wait for11/6/12 to get here as one tax payer to another.

I paid for my groceries, in cash, and left the store madder than 10 wet hens.

This is not one of those stories that a friend of a friend told a friend - I WITNESSED THIS AND WOULD LOVE TO TESTIFY IN COURT TO WHAT I SAW, however, it is apparently not illegal to go into a grocery store and buy a GRAPE, throw it away and take cash back from a food stamp EBT card and walk out the door. If she is so poor she needs food
Stamps why in the hell didn't she buy groceries.

This needs to be known to the public, if we don't get the takers stopped we are all doomed.

Thank you.

Origin of the Meaning of the Left and the Right!

Sent to me via e-mail:
I have often wondered why it is that Conservatives are called the "right"
and Liberals are called the "left."

By chance I stumbled upon this verse in the Bible:

"The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to
the left." Ecclesiastes 10:2 (NIB)

Thus sayeth the Lord. Amen.

Can't get any simpler than that.

And now for a Spelling Lesson...

The last four letters in American..........I Can
The last four letters in Republican.......I Can
The last four letters in Democrats........Rats
End of lesson. Test to follow in November, 2012.

Disgusting

My gut tells me that the rapid response was willing and ready to deploy to aid their countrymen, but were ordered to let those people die.  Defying that order would've been an act of a real man with integrity.  Following that order would be an act of cowardice.  Giving that order is not cowardice, it's murder and disgusting.  Our so called leaders disgust me.

Old Injuries

Back in the dark ages I played a lot of sports, golf, tennis, softball ( until the age of 45), wrestling and football.  In my early 20s, with a pregnant wife watching I injured my right shoulder and elbow playing sandlot, tackle football.  Twenty years later I hurt the same shoulder again, when a bolt of an old car I was working on broke.  Both shoulder injuries left me with one working arm for weeks.

A few months back, extended work with a chain saw left my right elbow and shoulder quite sore.  It hasn't gotten any better.  Injuries when we're young seem to always come back to haunt.

Stimulus a Bust ?

I'm not an economist by any means.  Having said that, I've often wondered about the sanity of spending bunches of citizens money on any kind of government program intended to stimulate the economy.  Seems to me that the government serves us best by staying out of anything having to do with economics.  For instance, the recent collapse was started by the government trying to help by pushing artificially cheap mortgages on those that can't afford them, then the financial institutions had to play games to cover their butts.

John Lott has a graph that shows our past stimulus had only a temporary effect on unemployment.  Seems to me that we'd all be better off if the stimulus never happened.  If so we probably would've recovered from the bottom by now.

Punishing Success

Why in the hell do we punish the hard working and successful?  We steal their money, and therefore part of their life, and give it to those that are less than successful.  The 'they can more afford it' argument is nothing more than BS.  This guy has figures that supports my point.  Double income and lose money, so why bother.

Punishing success creates financial leeches, it doesn't help a thing.

Say What?

Do you think the Dems and lefties will blame our continuing economic disaster on this guy?
After all, they never do anything less than perfection.

Tiny & Shiny

Over the last few days I've managed to spend a few hours preparing 150 rounds of 357 brass.  According to the Boss, our 2 dogs made an effort to eat the spent primers she spilled on the floor from the trash can.  Maybe they like the smell of burnt powder as much as I do.

Trying to Organize a Bit

Spent the evening trying to get the shop organized, with the help of the Boss.  It has never been organized since moving here last May.  In fact it's been so bad that I've been having troubles just walking in there, let alone find appropriate tools.  Why has it been so long?  Been busy working on "honey do" on 2 houses.

The shop has gotten so bad, that I just can't tolerate the condition any longer.  Still got more to do out there.

BTW, the gun room was organized long ago.  Got to have priorities.

Grass

Not the type for consumption.  Spent something like 3 or 4 hours mowing grass today at the old house.  The first grass I've cut all year.  We've been paying a young man to mow at the new house because all our mowers have yet to be moved.  The eldest (adopted) grandson has been mowing the old house grass, but no more because he's got a regular job.

I sure do miss spending a minimum of 3 hours mowing . . . NOT.

Undecided ???

How in the world can anybody be undecided about this election?  Obama is the biggest threat to our liberty that I've seen in my lifetime.  He and his administration are either evil or misguided, the most corrupt or stupid, for as long as I can remember.  On second thought, they're evil and corrupt.

Anybody voting for Obama is stupid.  Anybody that's undecided is 90% stupid.

Future Investment

My place of employment grows large single crystals of silicon semi-conductor.  We then machine them into components that are part of the equipment used to make integrated circuit chips.  As fall rolls around our sales usually drops off, but, again usually, that doesn't stop us from growing crystals 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  Last year we almost shut down for a couple of weeks in December, but we didn't.  It will be a close call again this year.

Despite the economy, the crystal engineering group has grown and we continue to spend money to improve efficiency and develop processes and machines to support those processes.  We are doing things that no one else in the world, but us, are doing.

I applaud management for continuing to invest in the future of the organization.

Sinuses Slammed

Saturday the Boss and I spread primer on the walls of one bedroom in the old house, for sale.  The fumes were terrible.  I've been fighting a sinus thing for weeks now, and the paint slammed them shut.  Couldn't breath a lick Saturday night.

I spent Sunday outside in the cool air playing paintball, and I could actually breath without restriction.  When I walked into the house that evening, they slammed shut again.  Bummer.   Hope the drug store Meds work tonight.

Which Shotgun

Last winter I was thissssss close to buying a CZ 712 Utility shotgun for home defense and to take tactical shotgun training at TDI.  By the time my son and I got ready to sign up, the class was full, and we moved into a new house.  The purchase was put on hold.

One of our fellow gun nuts at the Hell Survivors paintball game suggested I buy a Saiga 12 instead.

I have a bad shoulder and short arms, so I want a semi auto with the ability to really shorten the stock.  The CZ can have a stock that is adjustable, and so is the cheek piece.  I can also get a telescoping stock on the Saiga.  I still need to handle the Saiga to check the overall feel and length.

Does anyone have experience with either of these?  Comments are appreciated.

Shooting People

with paintballs.

This Sunday will be my second and most likely last paintball game of the year.  There was a time when I'd play at least once a month from May through October.  One would think that with age comes a more sedate life with personal time to spare, well not for me.  Seems the more I age, the less time I have for relaxing activities.

The weekend before last, was the trip to Hell Survivors in Michigan.  That was a 2 day game with close to 1,000 players.  This Sunday will be a single day adventure at Splatter Park north of Columbus Ohio.  Looking forward to it.  It's been a while since I've played there.
